Hi all,
this is the Colorado under aerial attack.

Now it is time for her sea trial, so I decided to release a beta version of the battleship essentially for those of you animated by good will, and specialised in seeking for various bugs and anomalies. Because she’s all but perfect…
This is the downloading link:

http://www.4shared.com/file/PbqU2CE_/Colorado.html

The model is comprehensive of all LoDs and collision-boxes, while damaged details are still missing and some guns classes aren’t the real ones but those I borrowed from the existing ones.
Please, let me know of any anomaly or strange behaviour (don't be too cruel  :-\), I will try to correct them in real time, or nearly so  ;).
Instructions will be found in the Readme file.

  My regards mates

Gianni

P.S. all my thanks and acknowledgements to Ashehouse for helping and addressing me to the right direction. Once again, had it not been for him…
Hold on, the Tennessee will follow in a very short time.

Its great to see this emerging from the shipyards Gianni.
At last the USN have a real battleship to grace the fleet. :)

These two classes that Gianni is modelling, the Tennessee and the Colorado Class, were the core of the US Fleet in the pre-war period. Known as the Big Five, their appearance is dramatically transformed after modernisation during WWII to the extent that the later 1944 versions look quite different, with completely re-modelled superstructures and greatly enhanced AA armament.

Why would they not release that? Is it part of the stupid NG problem?

Yes. NG acquired the Newport News shipyards which were responsible for a lot of warship construction. Rather than have to historically interrogate every model for possible NG links 1C just decided to avoid anything built in the USA. The stuff already released in Pacific Fighters is covered by the NG/Ubi agreement, therefore are the only exceptions.

Giannis models will do nicely instead  :)

Well I am more than happy to give NG 50% of everything I get from any model I make based on their designs ........  ;)

Great Model.  :D

Yes I like Giannis model and can't wait to try it out. I was doing some research on the USS Colorado and found no connection with its shipyard to NG. It's just disappointing that NG had to ruin all American made things.

If this was just about protecting the use of the NG name then I could perhaps understand it, but NG even registered the name Enterprise as a trademark a few years back!!

I e-mailed their intellectual property dept a few months ago to confirm whether or not they were claiming rights over the name USS Enterprise. I got no reply  ;D

Sorry Gianni. I'm drifting off topic.

I don't think Newport News even designed all the ships anyway. I'm pretty sure the Navy designed most of its major warships from the prewar and WWII era (correct me if I'm wrong).

Bravo to modders like Gianni for filling in the holes for us! :)

Hi all, I'm a little late but my best wishes for the New Year to you mates. ;)

The Colorado-class is 99.99% ready for an "official" release. All graphical issues have been overcame or amended.
Look at the BB 45 slow in the water at stern after a massive attack:

I tried, tried again and retried and finally I got a flawless working. Nevertheless, analysing the log file, I found some Internal Error, they seem not affecting the game but I've not idea where they are coming from. There they are
