Use the variable damage boxes mod to allow listing/stem/stern-up sinking effects? Where was that mod? Nice oil slick?
Can depth charges actually explode under water (with a delay, and use the big plane-crash splash, never tried them..?)

Since there are no evasive reactions in the ship AI code, and they can only blindly follow waypoints, what if they could go through a surfaced/periscope depth/deep dive LOD model cycle?
(Deep is the longest phase, and they would have to disappear somehow, extreme LOD model reduction? Some way to reverse this at night so they are mostly on the surface?)
Can a dummy plane spotting AA routine be used to trigger a model change (dive)? Players would have to spot, reach, and attack before they went down deep again, so they can possibly escape even if stuck going in a straight line.

Anto said the ship AI is 100% dumb and can't be changed, so any AI aspects are probably out of the question, but it would be enough to have to just spot and hit them, but would planes carrying depth charges need any special AI routines?

@Slink.

There is not AI for ships, so we expect just submarines in some levels: on surface, submerging and submerged. :)

But we can dream, because to dream do not pay anything. :D

LOL, you mean gar nichts, nada, nowt, it's worse than I thought. So they're just pure moving objects, even dumber than ground objects.
No wonder Anto said it was impossible, must have been a really tight budget.
So, we just hunt the submerged ones and depth charge them, and strafe and rocket the ones on the surface or somewhere in-between.
Not SH, but still a vast improvement. Looking forward to this one.

Excellent idea.
Is the sea bottom modelled, I mean can we talk about its depth and collision with it?

the ocean in Il-2 is an optical illusion. In CloD it is modelled. I think we could add a shadow model in form of the ship-fuselage... but I have no clue if this would work.

Hope it can use torpedos! The Stock periscope doesnt... that guides me to the thought why its there at all. Well... it would be Awesome when we could make a Convoy that gets attacked by Submarines and we have to hunt them or something... :D

Are you sure about this Batbomb? I seem to recall that the submerged submarine would launch torpedoes at enemy ships within its range. Maybe that was with the old game before the Mods??
