Hmm... I wonder if we can use a 3D Model from a FSX airplane as a cleaner slate for this...

I think that the external 3D is quite good. A small refinement could be obtained, but I don't anything about the damage model and the other layers of this CY6 plane. If they are more or less finished, for sure it's quite more difficult to start from another 3D Model that can be copyrighted.

Something that would be important is to homogenize the textures and create a good void skin for it.

Yeah, the external model is very good, I think that a new void and a new cockpit would be better than a new external model :D

Pablo,
If you plan to continue with P-61 couldn't you initially make the  rotating turret governing by AI-gunner? (like Me-210/410). Or take the turret's governing from B-29 for a human gunner? It would make the play much more exciting. Of course it is just an idea...

Far,
I will try, but I'm stucked with too many things. In fact the P-61 had a mode where the turret with the 4 .50 Browning mguns, was switched to a fixed position (to the front) and the pilot himself was able to shoot them to intensify the frontal fire. This mode I mention is exactly as it is dispossed now. It is true that in this way it will never help to defend the plane from a rear coming bandit.

Let me see what can I do. The real implementation of the gunner cockpit will be kind of tough. I couldn't find any detailed picture of that position. The manual we have is a pilot's manual, not a plane manual, so only speaks about everything in the pilot's position.

Pablo,

B-29 also doesnot have gunner cockpit just gunner's gunsight. Anyway Me-210/410-type pure AI-governing would be nice too.

Thank you!

Yes Far, but in the B-29 the gunners were located in those glass (or plexiglass) bubbles, so they can see to the outside and aim with the gunsight and shoot and move the assembly with those joysticks similar to the PlayStation ones:

http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/other-mechanical-systems-tech/b-29-engineering-flight-book-8691.html

So the bubbles of the Il-2 flyable B-29 are more or less realistic, there wasn't much difference with your perspective in the plane. But in the P-61 you were in a more typical cockpit, it wasn't a clean bubble.

But as you propose it: you the pilot and an AI gunner it would be nice because the plane would have self-defence hardware. I think that adding the chance of switching Fixed front shooting / AI gunner defence will make this to rock!

By the way: with this plane you can destroy tens of enemy planes. It is really a killer in the game. I tend to think that the speed you can reach here is a little over-dimensioned for a medium size plane.

Hi Guys! Got a weird problem, 4.101 with SAS modactivator 3, The plane flies all right, however when I pull the trigger after a one-econd short burst I run out of ammo...

P-61 modder if you continue with this project ailerons need to be considerably smaller about half of what they are now. The actual aircraft has a set of spoilers that act in conjunction with the ailerons depending upon speed. Gun stations were located aft of pilot and in the tail of fuselage but could be taken over by pilot for forward firing additionally there are four 20mm in the belly. Powerplants are R-2800 with both Turbo and Supercharging.

Do you have a 4.12 version of the P-61?
I have one that in my 4.12 but only the default skin works.

Why don't you try this one:

They work perfectly in 4.12
