I love the pictures in reply#19. the caption "I think this is Rodney later in the war" is taken in the Solent (Spit Head) looking North into Gosport & Portsmouth harbour - so possibly Fleet review of mid '30s? Despite having a school teacher who served on Nelson (i went to school in Portsmouth) I never really found these 2 ships attractive.
But do you know if "B" turret could fire straight ahead? Pictures suggest that the blast effect would be directly over the sighting hoods in "A" turret. I guess, as the picture showing the final battle against Bismark seems to show, that she would limit her fire to > 5 degrees off centreline. I did read somewhere that the damage to herself from her own guns during that engagement was severe.

really love your ships & additions to this enjoyable game - Thank-you. From a personal perspective, which, in your opinion, is the most handsome RN ship? (My vote is Queen Mary or Repulse)

Of the older Battle Cruisers my favourite would be HMS Tiger, with the triple stacks.
But these, greyhounds of the sea, were  very specialist types, only really good in the role that they were designed for, but often mis-used.

My favourite has got to be HMS Warspite. A perfect blend of brute character and history. Probably the greatest fighting record of any British ship in modern times.

Brought into action in Normandy with X turret and some boilers still damaged from earlier operations.

Good spot. Having served "on" HMS INVINCIBLE for some of my career, you'd think my English would have been better!! (I believe the only other "on" was HMS Opportune (O-class sub) - ALL other ships are indeed "in".

We've got the Warspite, looks really good (I think it's in HSFX, or is it DBW...gets confusing), BUT I can't use it as a texture problem makes it gag my frame rate. Only a few things do that (like the jet cockpits in DBW that work fine in HSFX), but I wish I could use it.

Sleeping Dragon -- Your problem may be due to the texture proportions. They were rectangular, not square, which may cause a problem on older graphics cards. What graphics card/pc spec do you have?

You could try opening skin1o.tga, skin1p.tga and skin1q.tga in a graphics editor and changing the image size to make them square, eg 1024x1024, 256x256, 64x64 . The tgb file should also be made 1024x1024. You need to rename this to tga temporarily to load it in a graphics prog. The texture mapping will not be affected.

I think this was changed in the HSFX version?  -- not certain.

My previous PC when I was working on Warspite was certainly not a high end machine and I did not see any specific problems.

Thanx for the detailed reply on this. Sorry I just now saw it. Duh on my part. I'll try this out.
My graphics is a Radeon X195D crossfire, 512mb ram. The cpu is an AMD Atholon 64x2 5000t black edition. I have 2 gb of RAM.

I'm not real good at doing the computer thing, as my rig is custom built about 3 yrs ago, with IL-2 being the primary consideration. It runs fine with a large number of AC and ground, ships etc. Only a few ships and the jet F-86/Fury/Mig instrument panels in DBW/UP actually gag it, along with Warspite and the OLD versions of the Col., Tenn; those run fine in the latest version of HSFX now.

What nobody has been able to tell me is why the same instrument panels that run crappy in DBW run fine in HSFX, and what I can do to transfer whatever it is. There appears to be a difference in the way they organize that.
