fanatic you can not insist the evolution of a pack is only going in your favor..

Sorry in this forum (and in ANY forum) I 've never been pressing, nor I ever made any specific requests, this is not me. So, give me a break...The solution is to rework some dlls, not to cut planes from the list. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to do so, and since this is given for free I cannot go out and request people to work on it they don't want/cannot do it.

My mentality is the opposite from pressing changes 'in my favour' , it's 'if it's perfect don't fix it' and actually I don't know how I can be more clear in what I am trying to say in all these posts, for God's shake.

I have 2 installations of DBW 1.6 already.

Don't see what the problem is since you will be able to optionally download everything anyway... Also since ere talking about an offline mod package it doesn't matter squat how you customise it. Lets just accept for the time being the classfile memory limit.

Well... you know what... i cant wait for 1.7.
i cant choose between the right 109s no mo' and barely notice any difference between models.
so "bring on the clean-up" i say.

Me too, too much of the same already. I also welcome more different types of aircraft. And for the aircraft collectors there will be mod packs. I really like the way DBW is going. Quality above quantity.  :)

Hello!
Any chance to see the working version of Potenz's Landing gear damage MOD in DBW 1.7?
Heh, it's my dream...  ::)

My suggestion is this:

Rather then cutting planes, we do a simple "package swapper" in JGSME...I mean you are not goign to be flyign korean jets if you are playing WWII campaign/scenarios (nor will you be flying WWI aircraft), so those things are unnessary if your playing a WWII campaign. So what you do is have JGSME swap the packages for the time period, with the appropriate classfiles for the packages. Sure, it means abit of duplication with some files(liek the classfiles), but at the same time, it would allow a more focused effort on the eras, with sectional upgradability, and a continued expansion of aircraft as opposed to a limitation or cutback. I do not see why this cannot be done. I mean yea..it would be nicer if we could just keep on packign it into one solution, but perosnally, it doesnt take much effort to swap out an era for another era (perhaps with some overlap between them) as an end user. It means MORE for everyone, and really, the additional work would not be all that great. Mostly cuttign and pasting the needed files, and once the originals are created, it is simply a matter of a updating with new additions, and should allow for a more focused development.

My 2 cents.

Exactly..and if WWII aircraft alone becomes an issue..you can even cut it in half or by years, with overlap to allow for more room. I mean..who was actually flying a 109 D by 1944-1945 ? or a FW A3 or less ? (for example..and the there ar eplenty of allied exampels too)

The logical split initially woudl be the post war-korea jet stuff initially(with some lat war overlap)...and add additional splits as they become necessary to allow for expansion.

Actually the more i think about it, the more it makes sense, because this would allow users to DL only the eras they have interest in as well, and not carry a bunch of stuff they dont want or wont use.

I've already disabled all jets in my DBW to make room for more of the older pre-war planes. And if I ever do feel like zipping around at the speed of sound, I enable them again ... But if it were possible to do so with the selector switch, well then that would be much handier and cleaner and less potentially strewn with opportunities for making a mistake that causes a 60% ctd.

Sounds like a very good idea.

well, the whole concept is a wayste of time then... i got an airfield full of planes already, and hardly can imagine to have even more. last time i flew any Me-410... like... Spring? dunno... leafing through the "objects" available in FMB: 45 minutes.

this little game is awesome. its like a cooper mini... handy, fun, awesome, and it never frickin dies.

I practically always end up flying the same two dozen or so planes. Some planes are not really meant to be flown I'd think.

BUT ... the real fun is in having a few hundred types of opponents to fly against. That is the real fun of the game. Biplanes are great to have as opponents because of their maneuverability, but not really easy to fly because of their restricted field of view. Cargo or transport planes are great to use in making missions varied ... and fun targets.

So, however many planes there are now, there is still room for more, especially since their flight characteristics all differ from each other.

Anyway if you're talking about air.ini split, that you can do yourself easily by preparing different #DBW/STD folders in jsgme to activate just what you want.
[/quote]

How does that work? Do you give the folders names like #DBW_Jets or #DBW_Interbellum and have them in the root directory like #DBW1916? Then adjust the air.ini I suppose. But what about planes that come as mods? Or other mods? Each folder would need the plane mods and other mods?

Is there a way to get that into the selector switch?
