I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but if you go inside the hangers at Da Nang Air Base your plane explodes. I'm talking about the big ones with the open doors. It looks like you can taxi into the hanger but there is an invisible wall that blows you up. Is this a known bug? If so can it be fixed?

Quite right too - taxying into a Hanger is a definate No-No. And so is starting engines in a Hangar and taxying out - just never happened. Far too dangerous....

@ Tom2 and Gianlucabagatti

Changing the camouflage section in the load.ini was one of the first things that I did, but it turns out that I also needed the 4 sfs object files provided by Boomer, and I needed to install the North Sea map and the Darwin 1942 - 43 map as well. That fixed it for me. Now the map works correctly. It saves in the FMB without having to edit the bldconf.ini file. Now I'm a happy camper. Thanks for the help guys.

Hi Slikk, with the latest (october 2011) sfs object pack I did need nothing else

Here is a try to give it a different water look, I researched over Southern Vietnam and tried to find the so to say medium. But for rivers I am not happy and hope someday different colours are possible.

The default version fits rivers better, this one the coast IMHO, so I added this load.ini as option in the latest altered version by Mission_bug-just for shits and giggles. :) TBH the ocean and coast had to be even brighter blue with a greenish coastal zone AFAIK, but I wanted a compromise since rivers appeared reddish or yellowish or brownish..

Looks pretty Thorsten, the problem with the map is the rivers and sea have to be the same colour, hence the reason for the original Brown colour.  The thought was that most flying would be done inland in support of ground forces so it seemed more important to match the colour to the rivers. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Sound pretty, but in this countries, the river are brown due to excessive mud within and the seasides are brown and blue!
Apart in the Halong bay (too much tourists but marvelous) the water is not so clean in the vicinity of the coasts

I take that as stock is best! :D :) And I tend to agree..slightly visible, I also repainted the normal textures just a slight touch to more contrast. But that is all just for fun..
Thanks and cheerio

~S~ Tom2
If my mind serves me right, most of the rivers in South Viet Nam was brownish color. At least most of the
rivers I had to cross was brown to muddy brown. As far as by the coast, it was blue to greenish blue. Then
again it depends on the weather.  I hope this help some with the waters in South Viet Nam.

Thanks for the info  Kabayo, I am not really a modder. ;)
I only know how to modify load.inis or change water colors.
But if someday map modders find a way to simulate two versions for rivers and sea, your knowledge can be put into this map. I hope so.
For now the best other compromise I can think of is using shallow textures, to a certain degree, e.g. redko's Okinawa, Benghalli as first examples, show that shallow textures can modify the look of the water colors at the coast and maybe the same is possible for rivers. BTW the shallows used on the Mission_bug based Vietnam maps are very good IMO.
To my thinking the stock version of this map with the namtrees/wood by Uufflakke is best ATM.

Hello all, the map has had a further update and the link is in the first post of the thread. ;)

While testing the Phantom on the map I noticed it has a far wider circuit pattern than other
aircraft and that was putting the aircraft into conflict with the surrounding topography be it hills,
the wood effect or just slightly raised ground.

It isn't possible to make all the airfields compatible due to the nature of the terrain but I've altered
three:

Bien Hoa, South Vietnam.

Nakhon Phanom, Thailand.

And Tan Son Nhut, South Vietnam.

There are test missions in the download for each take off and approach, all tests were
done with AI aircraft.  Please let me know how you get on.

I initially tried four ship formations but lost some aircraft during the flight so these missions
are set for two aircraft flights which appeared to have no problems.

I've also removed some stray objects that got covered with the wood effect but which could be
seen if you were close enough.  These had been left from earlier builds of the map but because
Dixiecapt had used an early version of the map they hadn't been removed as for the colonial
version.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hi Pete,

I've also noticed that with the Phantoms too a wider circut pattern.

Just interested on the runways . Did you have to extend them a tad for the Phantoms or not?

Keep up the sweet detailing   ;D ;)

Thanks again for the great work   ;D

Hello Kirby, the runway lengths have been left as Dixiecapt made them.  In the missions which are included with the download the Phantoms have various weapon loads and with those the length is adequate, the original test had four aircraft at each take off.  You would need to test various loads to see what fits best. ;)
