Hello gianlucabagatti, some left over objects from earlier work on the original map were removed so that means changes to the static, the terrain and texture changes would affect map_H and map_T.

I always upload the whole map folder for those who may not already have it rather than just the changes.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hi Mission_bug, the 4shared link seems to be broken. 4shared tells me the file doesn't exist...

Hello coenoo1, i just tried the link myself with no problem it is definately there. ;)

A few people have had trouble getting my skins from there, I believe there is now a policy that you need to be registered to download. ???  What that is all about I don't know. ::)

So all I can reccomend is either register or try a different browser.

I some time have problems downloading from links put up by those in Czech Republic and Russia with my Aol set up, but can usually get them if I try either Firefox or Explorer.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hope s1 reads it:

Just 2 questions:

1. @Dixiecapt - could you remove the grass objects from LZ X-ray? It does look awesome, but it lowers FPS so much that the game is unplayable at this location.
2. What is the full name of this grass object? So I could remove it from my copy by editing actors.static.

Thanks for the info  Kabayo, I am not really a modder. ;)
I only know how to modify load.inis or change water colors.
But if someday map modders find a way to simulate two versions for rivers and sea, your knowledge can be put into this map. I hope so.
For now the best other compromise I can think of is using shallow textures, to a certain degree, e.g. redko's Okinawa, Benghalli as first examples, show that shallow textures can modify the look of the water colors at the coast and maybe the same is possible for rivers. BTW the shallows used on the Mission_bug based Vietnam maps are very good IMO.
To my thinking the stock version of this map with the namtrees/wood by Uufflakke is best ATM.

Tom

What about making shallow water brown/muddy shallow water texture and applying it to rivers by modifying map_c? This would allow to simulate two collors: regullar greenish for coast and muddy for rivers.

Anyone knows the grass-object's name?

Cool idea on the rivers maybe? I'm no map artist, but sounds not bad.

This was already used on some modded version of stock MTO map, that's why I thought it might work

Hello Pete, slightly off topic:
It would be great if Dixiecapt posted a final and all in one version of that South Vietnam 1968 map. Since so many upgrades, fixes, add-ons, forests, trees, map_c.tga changes where available.
IMHO the best version is the one with Uufflakke's jungle, the light trees and reduced tree file.
I do not have an idea which upgraded version I tested last in FMB+, but I saw a number of airfields/bases covered by forest.

Cheerio

Hello Thorsten, sorry for the late reply here, been working on the roads of the Vietminh map. ;)

Dixiecapt is currently studying at the moment so to all intents and purposes isn't involved with the sim right now so for the time being you are stuck with the maps available.  I also have found the problem with the bases/airfields at A Shau SF basecamp, Laotion airfield and LZX-ray, not sure why that is I'm sorry to say.

If you download the version of the map I altered in this thread all should be ok:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,21368.0.html

I've just downloaded the March 10th 2012 update I did and those airfields are clear.

At LZX-ray there are various bushes littering the landing area, that one was intended for helicopters so is as Dixiecapt designed it.

I deliberately left all the various changes where they were in the colonial final thread so that folks could pick and choose something that suited them, rather than make a whole series of map downloads that would have confused the hell out of me never mind those trying to decide which was the best.

There are already too many versions available I fear. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello all, I've now merged the original Dixiecapt thread for the 1968 version of the South Vietnam map with the later map thread I started regarding changes to that version of the map.  This keeps all info on the 68 map in one thread, but makes for a lot more reading. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
