From the Heart of a German (seaplanes)
« on: October 14, 2011, 03:57:17 PM »

Because I am in desperate need of the following aircraft, and I have no experience modding, I am asking all of the great modders of the sas crew to do me a favor.

Blohm und Voss BV 139

Blohm und Voss BV 138

Blohm und Voss BV 222

Blohm und Voss BV 238

Blohm und Voss HA 140

Dornier Do 18

Dornier Do 24

Dornier Do 26

Focke-Wulf Fw 62

Heinkel He 115

Heinkel He 114

If anybody has any links to a possible wip or download, please pm me! I think that IL-2 is in a horrific lack of German seaplanes.

He-115 is available as a frankenplane at IL2 Free Modding, but its not very good.

Champi is working on a BV-138. The model looks lovely, but I don't know the status of the project.

As for the rest:

BV-139, BV-222, BV-238, Ha-140, Do-26, FW-62, He-114: Prototypes only or very limited production and use. There are whole air forces of more important planes yet to be modeled.

Do-18: Obsolete by the time the war started, quickly relegated to training roles. It does have the dubious distinction being the first German aircraft shot down by the British, however. (3 Do-18 vs. 3 Skuas. Result: 1 Do-18 damaged and forced to make an emergency landing. That tells you something about the operational effectiveness of the Skua!)

Do-24: Produced in some numbers. Used by both sides during WW2 (Germans in Europe, KNIL and later Australia in the Pacific). Also used by France, Spain and Sweden. Possible candidate for modeling if there's enough data.

German land vehicles are well represented in the game. About the only weak spot is various self-propelled artillery guns like the Wespe and Hummel and perhaps a few more river-crossing vehicles (assault rafts, schwimmwagen, armed barges).

Relative lack of artillery isn't that much of a problem, since most towed howitzers look pretty much alike from an airplane. It wouldn't hurt to have an infantry gun or mountain howitzer, though. And, other than vehicle-mounted rockets, every country is short on self-propelled artillery guns.

Ships are a weak point in the game. It would be nice to see more small ships, which saw more action than the big ships during WW2: submarines, patrol boats, frigates, destroyer escorts, destroyers, minesweepers, minelayers and armed trawlers. I wouldn't complain if someone modeled a German cruiser, though.

i would not mind a Type IX submarine, or a proper german Type 24/26 Zerstoerer.
german tanks and kÜbelwagens we got enough methinks.
a he-115 or do-24 in would welcome as AI planes , i would probably not fly them.

-German seaplanes
-German ships
-German tanks
-German artillery
-German vehicles

...you kidding?

Really, what's the point of making a poll?

First get a look at this, to get an idea on how to make a request thread: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12475.0.html

And then, if my vote is worth anything, i think that this game isn't lacking much, it just lacks some common sense by many players...could we implement it? Thanks in advance...

I'm sure as far as he learns how to insert more Info about each Plane he'll do.
Well done that you managed to post pics properly.

I miss the He 115, I'm always for more Planes. Historical, Semi, Franken, Jetman, Lilienthal, Birds...
We have a Flightsim were the skies should be filled with beautifull flying objects

I dont think we are in 'desperate' need of any of the above- as has been stated, we have plenty of German armour and vehicles with the exception of SPG's like the Wespe. Would be great to see some of the seaplanes, again, as has been stated, the He115 or Bv138 or perhaps the Do18.

Again, yes, it would be nice to have some more German warships (why only German?)

I have read any number of posts that start "I have no experience of modding, but I would like........"

Problem is, the requests are massively outnumbered by the people doing all the work, and to ask for a huge list of aircraft plus ships, tanks & vehicles will get you nowhere. Why dont you start trying to learn one of the 3D programs to fulfill your desperate need?
