Adding new planes
« on: October 17, 2011, 03:42:47 AM »

Hi, I'm new here. I've tried reading the "adding new planes" tutorial. It says I have to copy the aircraft folder into the "MODS" folder. I have IL-2 1946 v 4.101 with UP 3.0 installed and working perfectly. But I do not see the "MODS" folder. This puzzles me as well, I've tried searching for the "3do" folders of the other modded aircraft but I find nothing. Help please, thanks in advance.

For UP3.0 you have to use the #UP# folder instead of the MODS folder.
Did you have the air.ini file?
Anyway UP3 it's not a mods friendly.
If you are an offliner the best choise is DBW.

Thanks very much. The other thing that's confusing me is the air.ini file. I do not understand the instructions very well. What's "adding lines"? Reading it just leaves one big ? in my head. I downloaded this: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,15510.0.html

I couldn't locate the air.ini file. Well, at least I got the MODS folder thing cleared up

There's a problem  :(

I can't find the #UP# file either... the closest I found is the #UP# Enable_UP3.0. I tried using the search companion thing to search the whole C drive but didn't find the air.ini file. Here is a screenshot someone please help me

You must add the folder from yourself (right mouse buttons, new, folder) and call it #UP# ;)

In the original UP3 RC there was the #UP# folder with all the .ini files but it was not released anymore and those files are old one.
Again, if you want a more mods friendly pack try DBW

Hi, thanks again. If I add a new file, what about the "air.ini" file? Do I just add the plane into the new folder? And I don't have enough memory space for DBW, I only have about 3 GB left, plus using my current internet connection, I took a total of 27 hours over a span of 4 days to download UP3 so I don't want to go through that again :P  Thanks for the advice though.

So what about the air.ini files? I tried copying the aircraft into the new #UP# folder I created but it doesn't work. Maybe I will clearing some space and downloading DBW. I just download it and do not need to do anything with UP3 right?

DBW is to be installed on top of UP3.
Anyway I don't know how your PC could work with just 3GB free on your HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You must have to use the air.ini file in which you will add the line like:
Bu-181         air.Bu_181 2                                g01   SUMMER

Maybe other UP user could help you with the air.ini, I don't have it and I'm to lazy to extract it.

As far as I remember the samplefolder.rar was released with UP3 RC1 so it's the old one to old to be used with RC4

Well I'm not very tech savy and I just realised I could have stored files on the D Drive. I've always wondered what it was for. So I actually have around 50 GB of free space, just have to do some shifting from C to D drive.
