« on: November 14, 2011, 05:30:24 PM »

This is the Against the Wall campaign series!

These campaigns depict historical action of German Army Group A's drive into the Caucasus and the Soviet defense and winter counter-offensive.

Find all four campaigns here:

A 13-mission campaign based on historical events in which you will fly an R-5 for the 687th LBAR (Light Bomber Air Regiment) against the German summer offensive to capture the Caucasus and its oilfields. Part 2 is a continuation of the chronological campaign series depicting the struggle for the Caucasus. It covers the events from the end of August through September 1942 - from the German assault on Mozdok to the capture of El'khotovo and Malgobek.

A 17-mission campaign based on historical events in which you will fly an IL-2M_early Sturmovik for the famous 7th Guards ShAP against German Army Group "A" during Operation Blue - the offensive to capture the Caucasus and its oilfields. Part 3 is a continuation of the chronological campaign series depicting the struggle for the Caucasus. It covers the events during October and November 1942 from the German assault on El'khotovo to the climax at the battle of Ordzhonikidze.

Author's note: This is my ultimate Sturmovik ground pounding campaign. There are many ground targets as well as hidden targets. Lots of ground action especially toward the end with the larger ground battles. Choose any rank - you will probably be able to rise high in ranks.

The above are campaigns for the Russian side.  The one below is for the German side during the Caucasus battles.

Thanks for these. I've downloaded them all.
Its not a theatre of WWII that I know well, but these campaigns really bring it to life.
Great stuff.

Against the Wall 2 fails to load because "Regiment 687LBAP not found." How, or where, can I find it?

687 is an added squadron that (I think) came with the Forgotten Countries mOD.
You could get that mod...
or, load each mission into the Full Mission Builder and change the squadron's name from 687 to something else like default Russian squadron.

Against the Wall part 4 can be downloaded here:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=1083

I've been working on this one since November and finally finished it.  You'll fly the Pe-2.  In 1942 snow didn't start to fall until the end of November so you'll use both Fall and Winter Caucasus maps.  Looks like this is the only snow I'll be seeing this winter!  Had to get this released before warmer weather gets here.

Part 4 is the last of the "wall" series.  I wanted to detail the ground campaign in the caucasus so others can follow the historical day to day events since this is a lesser known history compared to Stalingrad which took place during the same time period.  In the future I'll make fighter campaigns but using ground attack planes is the best way for me to follow the ground events.

Great job on covering this less known front, and an equally good job of not letting the campaigns go, but updating them. THANKS!!!  :)

Hi CzechTexan,

I like very much your Caucasus series and the related large IL-2 sturmovic compilation campaign.
I have a question related to graphical rendition of your campaigns. In one of your screenshost at M4T you can see that the driving German tanks cause a large cloud of dust and smoke on their trail:

In a beautiful movie of these campaigns at youtube (starting 7:50 min) these clouds of dust and smoke behind the moving vehicles are even more impressive:

On my installations (VP mod and BAT 4.1.2) these clouds are only very small, not larger than the vehicles itselves. What's the secret behind the large and impressive dust trails? Are there needed specific individual mods not included in the mod packs or are specific graphic renderings (e.g. in the conf.ini) the key?

hi Teddy,
The only thing I can think about that is that dust clouds have been tweaked since those missions were played several years ago - which were probably 4.09 or 4.10.

I don't know if the dust clouds were tweaked by vpmedia or for BAT but I do remember that the stock game dust clouds were changed for airplanes on runways (and probably also for vehicles), however, I do not know which update or when that took place.  So, that's the most logical answer I have.

Thanks for your continued interest in the Caucasus battles!
