Perhaps a suggestion? Would it be possible to model the pilot's helmet the same way it is done on the F-84, with the helmet included on the skin template? That would allow "Customization" for the different aerobatic teams and other units or pilots flying the aircraft.

The way I see this, in a positive way, this is our advanced trainer for the Mig-21. And I've also completely fallen in love with this lovely bird

Well I can tell you now it certainly flies nothing like one considering this is a straight wing aircraft wheras the MiG-21 is a high stall speed, low lift pencil effectively XD Anyway by christmas you will find out.

Yep grant you've got the right idea. Just need to look at what helmet or head is around about correct, would rather not model one from scratch unless it's really needed, perhaps even the helmet from the MiG-21 will work we shall see after a further comparison. There are areas for it to be skinnable probably without having to move internal mapping to other places but yeah we shall see when the time comes.

For the helmet, what about the one from the F-86, the red one ? I think it looks good.

mm checked last night, it uses goggles. Kinda want a helmet that has a HUD inside kind of type... so a whole pane that covers the eyes.

Thanks grant, that's basically the shape that I meant.

Looks good mess, sorry I wasn't availble to join in. I've been in discussion with guys from FTV about the flightmodel. It is currently fine for normal flying but for formation flying there are still a few adjustments to be done at least. A possible bug that was discussed is a sudden increase in pull from around 3G onwards, otherwise known as a bump when we fly in formation. This was also noticed in earlier versions of their MB-339 and we will be working together to make the flightmodel more formation friendly. However do remember that closer to the final release the engine acceleration will probably be changed to the more appropriate 12 second delay, rather than the current 3. So there won't be much use of throttle in formation.

Coming soon in Version 4.2

Once I have all the files sorted I will upload it. The helmet and pilot skin are changeable and transferred over the net by changing the "pilot" in the arming screen.

Update 4.2! see first post.

Version 4.2:
- New pilot head. Mapped onto pilot skin. (UV Map and new default pilot skin included in patch)

Please note that original pilot skins are no longer compatible. The area around the face has now changed. For this reason a default pilot skin is provided. For ease of use please try and stick to L39_***.bmp for pilot skin names. 256x256 bitmap and if I remember correctly there must be no spaces in the file name or it will cause crashes.
