Please, please please!  :(

Can you (or someone) provide an alternative download mirror for these packs? Gamefront is blocked where I am.

Thanks

What does "clean vanilla DBW 1.7.1 install" mean?  Is it enough just to delet or disactivate the few mods I have in my #DBW file in my 1.7.1-version? ( I don´t have added any new maps or aircraft anyway)
Or do I have to install a complete new DBW and patch it up to DBW 1.7.1 ?
much obliged!

"Clean vanilla DBW 1.7.1" refers to a fresh installation of DBW with no other mods enabled.  Yes, best to remove all mods from the #DBW folder and ensure all inis and ru files are in their original state as of DBW 1.7.1.  Best to have everything cleaned out, then try running "vanilla" DBW 1.7.1.  If it loads correctly and you have no CTDs or other problems both with the game load to the GUI, as well as a flight load, then you are ready to install these packs.

Note, these packs are installed/"pasted" into the jsgmemods folder in the il2 root.  GME is then used to enable the mods within the packs.  If you wish to modify the packs configuration, disable the pack in GME and edit the pack only in the jsgmemods folder.  You should never have to edit anything in the #DBW folder or other folders in il2 root.  Only in the jsgmemods folder.

keep us posted if the packs work well for you once installed!

Sorry Hawkers, I do not have a second option available at this time for file hosting.  Unfortunately most file hosts require sizes smaller than what Gamefront supports.  There are a few others out there such as FileDropper however it takes quite some time to upload, so I imagine their download would also be quite slow.  I would love to package these packs into a torrent for easy download though seeding, but not sure how to do it.  Will likely investigate for next update.

All in all, perhaps if someone has a faster upload option, they can upload and then let me know the links for the mirrors and I can then update the original post with the alternative download options.

Hope you can get the packs as they really enhance DBW further and avoid problems I have seen others reporting with attempting customized mod installs on top of core DBW.

Hey Hawkers,

here is something to try:

Click this link which is a direct link to the part 1 file.  If this works, please reply and I can post the directs for the other two archives.

thx!

Thanks for your reply, Wind.

Still no joy I'm afraid >:(

I'm still getting the 'file not found' message with the direct link :)

I'll just wait and hope if someone else can upload and host these somewhere else - I know that other folks here regularly use Rapidshare & Mediafire (which work for me) - so hopefully I'll be able to get them soon.

Sweet to see the Clean DBW Modding JGME Packs now listed under the "official" DBW Dowloads section!   :) :)

Of course, the real credit goes to the modders who created the enhancements which bring this game to life, both core DBW and the mods found in these packs.  My only contribution is a working framework to add the additions in a clean functional manner.

Hope everyone using DBW 1.7.1 + CLEAN DBW Modding JGME Packs v3 enjoy the experience as the guys who created this magic really breathed plenty of new life into an excellent flight sim!   :)

Hi Wind
I have all mods cleared out of the DBW folder. I have only the STD & XTD folders left in there. My question is do those two folders need to be removed also. Everything is disabled in GME.
Thank you for all of your work in adding to making 1.71 even more complete. Also is this compatible with DCG running on top. I assume that it is but I have not seen anything about DCG with 1.71.
Thank you again,

Hey Railer!

Sounds like you are almost there.  Do not delete the STD and XTD folders in your li2 root/#DBW folder as these are your core collection of configuration files for DBW.  However, you will want to make sure all of these files are "vanilla" for DBW 1.7.1.  There are a number of options you could do to check these files, but the easiest would be to simply extract these two folders from DBW 1.7 download, and paste both folders into your #DBW folder following the instructions outlined in the 1.7 install (I do believe the XTD folder is to be deleted).  If "vanilla" DBW loads correctly and you can get into a flight, then you know you have a solid vanilla DBW 1.7.  Patch to 1.7.1, and then rerun again to ensure DBW works vanilla at 1.7.1.

If all is well, then finally, install the packs I created for all the enhancement mods included by pasting each pack folder into your il2 root/jsgmemods/ folder.  Enable each pack in GME, and load DBW.  Enjoy!

As for DCG, it is actually a completely separate entity from DBW.  DCG is simply an engine which generates missions for il2/DBW.  Granted very good and consequence based missions with lots of randomness!

Some of Lonestar's PTO DCG campaigns work in DBW, but others require some tuning (LS has the best DCG campaigns  :) ).  I am actually working on updating some of Lonestar's DCG campaigns to function in DBW 1.7.1.  Currently, I have his Korea 50-53 just about ready for release (once I check in with LS for final approval).  I also updated the Libya 41 DCG campaign for DBW 1.7.1 that will also be released soon (not sure who originally built this one).

All in all, with DBW 1.7.1, the JGME Clean Mod Packs, and DCG, the offline flight/fight experience has never been better!!   :)

stay tuned!

Hi Wing
I did have it just as you said. It is up and running with DCG fighter center Eastern front.
Thank you for all of efforts and I will get into Korea also.

Hi Wind!

Thank You very much for sharing Your work and providing some additional 'basics' to DBW.  :)

...and of course for pointing the way to add some other stuff on my own, e.g. the USN battleships!!!

cheers
