Re: CLEAN DBW Modding JGME Packs (v2)
« Reply #36 on: January 02, 2012, 01:14:12 PM »

... I did find that when I added skins for the F4U-4B in the ... \jsgmemods\#DBW_MOD_Aircraft\DBW\Paintschemes\skins\F4U-4B directory, those skins were not available in the game. So, I moved the \F4U-4B directory to \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Paintschemes\skins\. When I got back into the game, I found that the F4U-4B skins were available.

Thanks again for this mod :)!

Cheers,

Riptide

Of note for all users of the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack, there is a minor correction to the pack.  No need for a new download, but please do the following:
  • Disable the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft pack in GME.
  • Open the "jgmemods" folder in your il2 root
  • Open the Aircraft MOD pack within that folder and do the following cut/paste for the Paintschemes folder:
    from    #DBW_MOD_Aircraft/#DBW/Paintschemes/
    to        #DBW_MOD_Aircraft/Paintschemes/
  • Re Enable #DBW_MOD_Aircraft in GME and load game
This will ensure that any custom paint schemes tied to aircraft included in the Aircraft pack will be available.  I saw the issue Riptide raised with the B26B and F4U-4B custom skins, and with this minor cut/paste edit, you can fix the issue.  Of course if you add any additional aircraft or find custom skins for aircraft already included in the pack, then those custom skins would go there (Looking forward to new D4Y3 Judy skins hopefully coming soon!).

Note, this also keeps the skins tied to the pack as compared to the vanilla DBW install as originally intended for these packs.

enjoy!

This is a very good idea... especially for someone like me new to IL2 and mods.

Now I can tinker with your setup rather than worry about screwing up my DBW install  :D

Sweet!  Exactly the reason for the packs!   :)

Dave,
Just CUT the "Paintschemes" folder from the #DBW folder and PASTE it in the #DBW_MOD_Aircraft folder one level up.

These paks are great, solved alot of lockup problems for me. :)One question though, when adding ships with the ship folder, don't I have to put the appropriate INI files in there also? The folder dosen't have any in it.

Yes, if you wish to add a new ship, or a ship that requires an ini change, then yes you will need the default ship ini structure.  Basically, copy the structure from your vanilla DBW install specifically for ships and paste into the ship pack.  Then update those files as necessary for the new ship(s).

The pack I put out for Ships only includes updates to an existing ship.  However to add new, the related ini structure copied from vanilla DBW will need to be added as the starting point for adding ship content.  This inis required and associated code changes are usually outlined in the ship mod readme/documentation.

Great! What a big addition & it all works! I have one very small gripe:some small part of it has changed my intro screens with older pinup screens which I had & liked a long time ago.)I personally liked the new( to me) DBW screens ...I was going to ask how to get them back , but figured out to diasable them in" Effects etc." folder in jsgme & that worked!
Thanks again! ;)

Hey guys, just noticed something. When I remove a mod pak with JGME the mods still appear in the DBW folder even though I don't have them activated. Is this normal? When I started the game the unactiated mods didn't appear but were still in the game folder as though they were supposed to be usable.
