Generally the standard lapse rate of temp with altitude is 2degrees celsius for every 1000ft, so whatever ground level temp is recorded, this formula is applied, however it is more complicated

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lapse_rate

In real world flying, 2degrees per 1000ft is considered standard and used in calcultions

Thanks.

Daidalos seems to not make this formula in IL-2 1946.

I remake temperature calculating in it.
and here today's version.

Wow, i am impressed by this project... :O

I do have one question:
is there a specific reason you are stopping at "-56°C"?

Do you think it is possible to lmake temperature have an effect on the plane behavior?
cool air at high altitude = cool air in engine intake = cool air going in the radiator = new overheating algorythms?

Yes, reason is here...
International Standard Atmosphere
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Standard_Atmosphere

At 15 degree Celcius in 0m hight,
ISA decreases temperature 6.5 degree per 1km high upto 11km.
From 11km to 20km , constant -56.5 degree Celcius.

When 0m height temperature is very low in Oceanic climate area...
this -56.5 degree Celcius air is lower down from 11000m.
I make this.

But I don't have enough data about arctic area winter temperature ratio.
I want more data to simulate any area on the Earth.

Do you think it is possible to lmake temperature have an effect on the plane behavior?
cool air at high altitude = cool air in engine intake = cool air going in the radiator = new overheating algorythms?

I'm touching only air temperature calculating.
Not overheating algorythms.
But overheating algorythms use air temperature calculating function, so my MOD affect overheating at the  last.

Re: Variable Temperature MOD BETA0.04 for SASModAct
« Reply #30 on: May 03, 2012, 03:37:37 AM »

BETA 0.04 for SASModAct without 1956 JetEra v1.2
and
BETA 0.04 for SASModAct with 1956 JetEra v1.2

are released in 1st page.

BETA 0.04 depends on based MOD envoronments.
SASModAct without 1956 JetEra v1.2 / SASModAct with 1956 JetEra v1.2 / DBW1.71 / HSFX5
every environment needs different "Variable Temperature MOD" zip.
I have made BETA 0.04 runnable classfiles for both DBW1.71 and HSFX5,
but I have to make MAPS folder's load.ini to work 0.04 well before MOD zip release.
DBW1.71 and HSFX5 have many additional MOD maps, I need more time to write new load.ini for MOD maps.

BETA 0.04 has a function writing out Temperatures in a mission to the log file, you can read it in the log file.
When you feel strange Temperature moving in some missions / some maps, please tell me with that log.

You list HSFX 5 above but not UP3.

I am assuming it does not work with UP3 with this version also right?

Thx.

UP3 prohibit this type MOD working.
Evenif install MOD classfiles in #UP# folder, UP3 ignores it.

REMOVED MY LAST POST

CTD solved because this mod share a classfiles with AI hotkeys 2.5 so need to be loaded before....

After this all is working fine and got good temperature curve in Balaton summer map with thermical 0° between 3000 and 4000 mt....

Great work!

All the best!

BETA 0.05 is released in 1st post.

I correct some maps' load.ini.

And I add DBW version with all DBW MOD maps' load.ini.
