That's late one, but cool anyways.

BTW, Wiki says that it was modified in 1956, not in 1955. It matches Jet War even better then :P

Here's a pic of early one with Cougars on deck:

The web page I found says... Shangri La was modernized both SCB-27C and SCB-125 between Oct. 1952 ~ Jan. 1955.
At Jan. 1955, finished SCB-125.

Appreciate all your hard work on these swell CVs. Painting the numbers on the island, the way they sould be is nice as well.

all the catapult tracks are bent to the right on the skins.

is it on purpose? and can you make them straight?

I think SCB-125 Essex's two C-11-1 catapults were directing rotated 2degree right in historical.

Catapult MOD push airplanes straight (0degree) is today's feature.
When I will have spare time to edit Catapult MOD, catapults rotating will be implemented.

I believe to allow a take off failure don't see the plane sink right in front of the ship but a little offset to easy escape and savage....

Beautiful ships! Be great when we get catapults for ModAct 3.6. I served on the Oriskany, '63 - '65.

Today I'm searching 1955~1960 time Essex class SCB-125 photos.

In wikipedia, CV-15 Randolph and CV-16 Lexington photos are seen.
They are each different from Shangri La /1955. I'm interested.
But wikipedia photos show me only front decks.
I want to see landing decks and elevators, and more detail.

BETA3.00 released.

Adding
- USS Hornet CV12 /1970
- USS Hancock CV19 /1968
- USS Kearsarge CV33 /1965
- USS Oriskany CV34 /1965
- USS Shangri La CV38 /1955

I retouch only Shangri La.
Other 4 ships were retouched by crazyeddie. Thanks!!

All ships are a bit 3D edited.

This was one of the issues I had when trying to find documentation for early angled decks.

Depending on which ship you were looking at all had some different details.
For example on some you see more front platforms , on others more or less guns.

I'm not an expert on US carriers of teh time but I think there were some parts/ gun configurations that were different in each carrier.

Somebody with more knoweledge on teh subject may be able to help more though.
