I have these installed on DBW 1.71, and they work correctly and properly, I then downloaded the carrier catapult mod. but the catapults aren't working, why is this?

I hope this is the right place to ask.

I am using DBW 1.71 + CTO mod + Pablo's Catapult Mod + the angled deck USS Essex mod mentioned here. I also have installed "IL2 1956 - The Jet Era" in order to run the F8 crusader. When I test in a custom mission, the AI would jump to the middle of the deck, and take-off without catapult and end up in the drink. As for me I can just taxi over to the catapult and take-off without going into the water -- just as long as I don't engage autopilot.

I've scoured every IL-2 forum I could think of and Google for solutions with no joy. Also, I tried disabling the 'Jet era' pack along with the F8, but no go. I'm very stumped on this. Hope, I'm not doing anything dumb like forgetting a switch....  :-[

Update:
I found the solution. I simply made sure that Pablo's Catapult Mod is on top of the CTO mod in my DBW folder. Now, the AI jets are flying off the Essex. Again, a dumb thing on my part.  ::)

Kookabarra,

My game install is also DBW 1.71 and I spent a good amount of time trying things to get pass the CTD@70% barrier. Finally, I installed the USSEssexCV_ead_SCB125(4.10) directory in my #DBW directory, in additiion to the USSEssexCVs_SCB125 directory and now the angle decks work. The readme file says that installing USSEssexCV_ead_SCB125(4.10) directory is "optional", but in my case, that's the only thing that fixed my CTD@70% problem.

I am keen to see how others manage in getting the catapults to work on the angle decks. I have not been able to get the catapults to work.

Cheers,

Riptide

Today, I fix Hull's visual bugs and collision bugs.
When I release it... after about 1 week? after making SCB-125 new island.

BTW...

Western, has anyone found a way fix the "fuzzy", textures on the flight deck?
Do you mean "flight deck texture looks too low resolution" ?

I feel the same at original Diving Hawk's MOD.
And that is the reason I make this branch topic deck texture resolution made twice.
This is IL-2 1946 graphic engine's highest limit resolution as 2048x512 pixels.

I think again this...
We feel 2 patterns in seeing on Essex flight deck.
1 is "fuzzy".
2 is "jaggy".

2nd "jaggy" is texture size problem.
Now whole flight deck is drawn in 1 texture 2048x512 resolution.
When I retouch texture 1024x1024 + 1024x1024 + 1024x1024 like GJE52 said, deck has 1.5x resolution.
Or... this is unrealistic plan... separate deck face more 4x, use 4x1024x1024 + 4x1024x1024 + 4x1024x1024, deck has 6x resolution.
But when I do it, texture data size will very big, MOD folder total size will reach 4GB!! 8)

1st "fuzzy" is 1946's 3D draw engine problem.
Near our eyes about 50m, deck lines are not fuzzy.
But a bit far about 100m, deck lines look fuzzy.
About this, no way to solve it.
When far 400m, 3D model is changed from LOD0 to LOD1 and using texture is half one(1024x256), we feel more fuzzy , but this LOD is need to keep fps in game.

I'm not sure if that's what you mean but if it is the new superstructure m8 plz add it to those carriers also.
If not plz add teh one you gave Clemencau

I've run into some real life stuff and will be unable to retouch any mod for quite some time.

That's why I like SAS teh short tiem I'm here, one starts a mod, the others make their own versions, add ideas and in the end the final product is 100% better. Quite awsome if I recall the troubles the modding scene had in the past( which more or less made me relunctant to devote time back then))

Awsome work on improving the Essex and creating your variants and of course awsome is not enough to describe the SAm in Clemencau :D, you've made it 2X as good.

Cheers ;)

I found a later version of the catapult mod called 00_PAL-Carriers_Temp12. I installed this directory in my #DBW directory. So far, I've found that catapults now work on the angled deck carriers and on the USS Boxer. This is so for both player and AI pilots.

duffys tavern,

I found 00_PAL-Carriers_Temp12 at Special Aircraft Service >
Individual Mod Downloads (Assume unmarked mods are for 4.09 only) >
ModWorx > Ships&Vehicles > Topic: Carrier MOD (Beta)
, more specifically, Page 9, Reply #99, dated January 18, 2012, from western0221. There are several versions. I selected the DBW 1.6 version (...mediafire/?cwovuihyl75nuo2). It's referred to as "temporary #12".

Cheers,

Riptide
