His point wasn't valid, he seems consistent with such comments in threads anyway, this is IL-2
1946 afterall.
That's all the info I could find on this particular type, no more pictures or even a scale model. There were Do-217 variants that carried 1 Torpedo and several Sea mines, but this is the first as deidicated torpedo bomber. Wouldn't be that hard to create either, a simple classfile modification and add the pylons on to the wings.
Here is a short description of all the M series from various sources that I've put together:
M1: The M1 variant (Production Model) were based around the K-1/2 with DB-600 (603) series engines to free up production for the Fw-190 with different defensive arament. The M1 also had a series of sub-variants. (More info :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dornier_Do_217#Do_217_M )
M2: Capable of carrying four torpedos on external racks.
M3: Proposal for Heavy Bomber, rejected by RLM.
M4: 1 example constructed with a Turbo-Supercharger.
M5: Modified M1 designed to carry Hs-293 in recessed fuselage, one prototype produced.
M6: ?
M7: ?
M8: The M-8 was a second Turbo-charged version of the Do 217. One prototype was built and flew in May 1943 but the project was soon cancelled.
M9: Similiar to K-2, capable of carrying 2 Fritz X or Hs-293.
M10: Designed to use reclaimed materials(Crashed aircraft, hybrid/franken other parts etc) based on the M1.
M11: Revised anti-shipping version of M1 with extended wings of the K-2 and provision for 1 Fritz X, Hs-293 under recessed fuselage.
