Chock 3D model needed for Chocks MOD
« on: December 26, 2011, 11:47:57 AM »

Please,
could any 3D artist create an object like the yellow chocks (oposite, two mirrored parts) like this plane has at the wheels?

It could take me one whole day create them in 3ds Max, so if someone more experienced in the field wants to help me with that part it will be very appreciated.

I will release a "real chock" MOD that shows something when you set them with Alt+C to make at least reasonable and viewable the situation of having your plane blocked in land.

  Thanks. Pablo

So if i Set Chocks in (shift+c for me) little Yellow Checks will appear at the wheels of the plane? Will it Be for all Carrier Planes and for all the wheels?

Yes I could make these. Do you want them in the same format as an "object" (Like a hangar or bunker) or do you just need a mapped and skinned mesh to allow it to be referred to by a hier file ?

Would there not be a slight issue with differing wheel sizes of aircraft? Apart from that sounds like a great idea :P

JGE52,
I think that a mesh with a yellow pale texture would be enough. If you have the chance of creating an independent object with its .him too perhaps it would be more flexible, but my main concern is the 3D itself (the mesh).

  Kind regards,

Raptor,
it can be managed quite easily. There are several ways of knowing what "size of wheel you have over". You just have to set the distance between the front and the rear chock of any wheel.

Yes, if they would appear when the wheels are chocked. Would be very realistic.

cool, well your the master :P I'm just the 3d boy XD I'll leave it to you GJE52.

It should be just a mesh with it's own small tga that would do. Only one LOD probably like 6 polys. Afterall it's just a rectangle squashed at the top. XD It can then be referred to via a .sim file or even just mesh depending how he wants to do it.

It isnt possible to make it as a weapon kind of thing? push the chocs button for release and again it dissapear. Might be stupid idea. but that way it will follow the plane

You'll need to carry an infinite amount and add new hooks to every plane then...

digging up an old post, was any progress ever made on this?
it would be a really useful mod, and relatively simple to do...

Malone,
I made some attempts to make it work in any plane. One of the ideas was to search for the mesh of the main wheels and then attaching the chock to it.

Success was moderate, but my conclussion was that with some more investigation and try it could have been done.

Later I didn't have more time and never continued the development. Perhaps some day...
