We've all heard of it and know something about it. It's probably too much to ask but I guess it doesn't hurt to post. I'll try to be as brief yet specific as possible.
Forgive me if there's a thread on it already, I didn't quite manage to spot it. Brief infoFirst introduced in 1957 by Lockheed Martin, it would become the US's high command workhorse for the following decades and now with over 2,300 units active (as of '09) and 9 different variations including air-to-ground support and multi-purpose transport carrier, it marked it's rightful place as the muscle-in-charge for the United States Air Force and 68 other countries replacing the aging WW2 piston engine heavies in it's early days, such as the C-47 Skytrain, during the Korean war. Since it's first assignment with the 453d Troop Carrier Wing at Ardmore Air Force Base, Oklahoma in 1956, the C-130 has served in major conflicts such as Vietnam and Op. Desert Storm as well as other purposes including rescue and humanitarian operations across the globe engraving it's title in aviation history.
