Here are a few more examples of colorful war-time aviation art produced during WWII.
The first is of a unit of Royal Canadian Air Force pilots in a pre-flight briefing. It has a certain Classical allegorical composition to the scene which enhances the appeal of the painting. This painting has been possibly been influenced by social realism tendencies that were prevalent in art produced during the period immediately preceding WWII.
Interestingly in an aside, if anyone still remembers old TV shows like The Phil Silvers Show (sgt Bilko to you young'uns) or McHale's Navy, you will also recognize that grouping members of a unit in this fashion was very prevalent in that time. Sometimes it is not really all that far removed from compositions one finds in Socialist Realism where Lenin is surrounded admiring workers, soldiers, party members or students. This one painting however rises above Soviet Realist art by it's somewhat ethereal and generic composition and stance of the pilots.
Here is what appears to be a crashed Soviet Su-2.
