Hi all,
This is something I have wondered about for a while and why it might not have been implemented before. I know some mods already have random generation of different squadron/aircraft identification codes but the immersion would be so much better if it was a universal feature. It is most noticeable on German aircraft. What I'm talking about specifically is just fuselage markings, where on German planes for example different colours denoted different groups within a squadron and then letters (for bomber units) and numbers/symbols (for fighter units) identified individual aircraft within units/squadrons. I'm sure by now you all know what I'm on about. I have tried to see if a mod related to this is avaliable anywhere but haven't found anything so far. Basically the option is avaliable in the multiplayer arming menu (see screenshot) but not the QMB advanced options menu - apart from that these windows are identical. I have no idea but I can't imagine it would be too complex, going on some of the menu mods already. I wondered if it would be possible to port this feature over to the QMB menu (I rarely fly multi-player anyway), as to me it really helps with the immersion; rather than having no choice but to fly number '1' in a flight everytime and have every other aircraft in your unit '2', '3', '4', and so on, in numerical order. Here is what I'm referring to (attention to the red boxes):
Notice the yellow 'H' and the 'T' on the He-111 rather than the stock white lettered 'AR' or 'AH' or whatever.
Like I say I know many aircraft mods have this built in as standard but this option allows it to be used on every aircraft immediately, and personally modifiable very easily. I guess there could be developments of this with the various ranking symbols of the Luftwaffe, for instance, which would hopefully also avoid the disadvantages of hard-drive clogging MAT manager!
Hope I can get some feedback on this.
Many thanks in advance,
All the best.
Michael.
