Hello Flanker35M ,
nice to hear from you buddy  :)
New update Uranium V1 with finished effects is ready and is now very good looking
and much more closer as it gets to real explosion ground light flash effect:

1. Explosion ground light circus effect disabled and replaced with new fast ground flash effect ( especially needed for night operations )
2. Tuned aircraft ground crash explosion , 250/500lb bomb explosion with added new fast ground flash effect
3. Tuned aircraft cannon bullets ground explosion , RS82 and other rockets ground explosion with added new fast flash .

We just have to wait with update release because incompatibility issue with bomb bay door still remains , all newly short stream length created custom damage smokes for aircrafts are gone when Bomb Bay door mod is used .
Solution would be to create just opening bomb bay door key in to controls command and nothing else , no air show smokes custom entries included .
Thank you again for kind words , this new update will be final when it comes to effects until there are completely brand new effects added in near future .
To make sure everybody knows and can compare Uranium effects , we will create video which will shows majority of new effects and how they look like , especially aircraft new damage smokes and explosions ground fast flash effect .

Hey Holy, think I found the problem.  I had Effects=2 on for some reason.  I brought it back down to 1 and so far nothing.  Still playing around with it to make sure.

Works best on 0 at least thats what Ive found.

you're right on target , it's just because effects sharing files
originally modeled by developer is again rears its ugly head  ;D
It was OK back in 2001 but now is creating a bit compromise to be made .
Many effects are sharing the very same files and they would have to be
all separated inside Java class file .

Aircraft cannon bullets ground explosion , RS82 & other rockets ground explosion with
dirt fountain and small 10kg/50kg bomb dirt fountain all sharing file between each other ,
some to a less degree and some more.
That makes it extremely frustrating to do with also very little support effect files for visual effect .
10kg/50kg bomb have almost no effect files.
It can be looked again in to color but for the next version and update   :D

I installed this marvelous mod some days ago, no problem at all since i was flying land based planes.
Today i tried to fly a carrier based aircraft mission, and the game freezes after the load. No message error, nothing the cockpit apeears and freezes.
I tried to take off from ground plane based and works until i keyed the open canopy key, all freezed again
Installed the old Platinum mod and works.
Installed the version compatible with the bombs bay door mod and freezes again
Installed the version  no compatible, disable the bombs bay door and works, with cockpits included
Must be there a conflict with the new files, and the bomb bay mod and the canopies openings.
By the moment i left the bomb bay mod disable, i prefer your magnificent mod.

Ack, that is rather frustrating.  0.003kg of high explosive has same effect as 1kg of high explosive, but 1kg high explosive has smaller effect than 0.01kg high explosive.  Very annoying and sorry you have to deal with that.

Hello AKD  :) ,
frustrating is still more like a kind word  ;D ,
the biggest shock during effects work was tank cannon blast effect , once it was
beautifully done to match visually exactly firing blast effect from real WWII tank , the
very same effect did show up on aircrafts with cannon during shooting  ;D ;D L.O.L.
So effect had to be scaled all the way back down to look acceptable for both tanks
and aircraft cannon blast .
Fun about 10/50kg bombs when used with small time delay is that when you drop those
bombs and they fall to the ground there should be first some smaller dust effect from
the bomb smashing to the ground and then explosion , what's really happening because
of lack of effects files is , that when 10/50 bomb fall to the ground , there is first same
explosion effect substituted rather than dust effect and then again same explosion
effect after 2 -3 seconds  ;D
So same effect is happening twice when bomb fall smashing to the ground and then again
when bomb explode  :D
There is a lot more effects files sharing going on with other stuff when it comes to truck ,
cars , tanks etc....
That's why we always used to say we have done some of the stuff not because we
necessarily like it but because there is next to nothing other option and the way it is done
now is still much better looking effects considering WWII footage .
Unless each and every effect is separated and given appropriate number of new effects files
to create more historically correct effect , we're doomed to have what we have now  ;D
It's now more like trying to do something out of nothing ( minimum effects files support )
Same goes for aircraft various guns caliber bullet hit flash effects , some are sharing files
between each other and 0.50 caliber is dearly missing smoke effect file to show smoke
during bullets impact , it could have been nicely done to simulate many of 0.50 caliber
WWII gun camera clips but thus far smoke upon bullets impact is missing .
There is nobody to blame , it's a game from 2001 and for that time it was a blast and
looking bloody nice for the whole IL-2 simulation series .
Now since we moved forward trying to enhance some of the effects , problems with the
way effects were coded originally are showing up .

If there is still time and will , some of these things might get sorted out latter on  :)

Once again I commend you on your excellent effects pack.....it really increases the eye candy of the game. I have a couple questions regarding the bullet and cannon hit smoke effect (the dust or smoke that is displayed when a bullet hits the ground). Currently the dust color is grey. Would it be possible to change this to brown? I think this would be more realistic as it would simulate bullets hitting the dirt. I believe it would be a simple matter of changing the color0 and color1 parameters in the effects\materials\fontain.eff file, yes? If you could tell me what values to enter I would appreciate it (just for my own use).

I believe the first three are RGB values and the fourth is transparency.

Hello HG,
Thankyou for your wonderfull work enhancing game effects. I've been using the uranium effects without any problems. I've also been using the beta richochete effects mods without issue too. When (if) would you expect to have the bullet richochetes inclused in an the next (gulp :) ) effects mod update?
