Yes I tried just removing on my vanilla, and game Crash at 75%.

But, before I read your post, i had been pulling apart mod, and got ricochets, and the vehicles, and the smokes.

If you adjust columns in explorer to list by name, keep all these files:

You will get ricochets, and smokes. Some thing must be missing, but I can't see any difference, and game runs smooth.


I deleted/removed two folders, 3do and Effects. It works with the two folders, but also with out.

I was adding files a few at a time, till I got ricochets back, and when I did, I tried to delete all the files that did not produce that effect, but game would not start, so I left them for now. Last five files were what got ricochets going again.

I will add removed files one by one to see which one is responsible for the vehicle loss, and why my game will run with out that file you named, and more, but not just that file.

Fun to play with, just wish I could understand

My experience is that my game runs fine after deleting the problem class file, so I created two seperate Effects folders in my jsgme, one with the file, and one without, which I can activate at a click, depending on whether I decide to go dogfighting or ground-pounding.

What exactly all do I need for this mod to work? Right now I just have the stock 4.11.

I'm running this over a completely vanilla install just so you know, you probably have the textures I am missing from other files you're using.

I'm not asking you to fix this by the way, just reporting what I found.

When running "TheBlackDeath" ntrk I get no vehicles at all, just an empty road.

No effects when the para-frag weapons hit the ground (dust) and only black smoke after they explode, no flashes.

No ricochets.

Tracers look like vanilla ones and cannon hit effects also.

Building and static vehicle smoke does not work. Aircraft crash smoke does work.

Water splash effects are vanilla. (tiny)

Have you installed 4.11 over UP Rc3 or from stock?

I don't believe these would work at all (add-on enhanced packs for DBW linked). If I am correct, they are set up to put things into the DBW folder which would not be accessed at all by Ton's mod activator (which looks to the MOD folder). I could be wrong, but this is my understanding.

I'm returning to IL2 after some years playing other sims, and I'm trying to get this eyecandy into a vanilla 4.11m. I'm new to modding in this sim, and I've spent last 5 hours reading about buttons and UP and DBW and HSFX and things are still a bit confused.
What I want to do is to play with the new AI that 4.11 has to offer, graphics a la DBW (I play offline) and effects.

So, resuming, I have a vanilla 4.11m install + mod activator beta tool for 4.11. I also have the UP3RC4 files and DBW 1.71 files *(not installed yet).
Tried to do this once but ruined the game, so if someone can confirm that these are the correct steps:

1) Install UP3RC4 over vanilla 4.11m
2) Install DBW 1.71 over 4.11m+UP3RC4

I believe Ultrapack is supposed to be installed over 4.101 instead of 4.11?

joker, you need to use a clean 4.11 install, download the 4.11 beta modact from SAS, and install it. The modact has a files folder, which contains an rc file to which you add the text above. Then install the relevant sfs files only from UP and DBW. You may also put mods for 4.11 into the Mods file supplied in the modact. Have a look through the forums to find the mods which are compatible with 4.11.
