Full Mission Builder - Beginner's Tutorial!
« on: January 31, 2012, 01:19:44 AM »

Please note: this series of tutorials uses embedded images from PhotoBucket, who in an act of virtual internet piracy suspended their service without notification.  A fix is available for Chrome and Firefox users, highly recommended. Please go here to download the fix: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,56026.msg627659.html#msg627659  :)

Hi Fellas.  :)

Mods are great, but without missions and campaigns to fly 'em in, well, it's tough to enjoy 'em to their full potential.  When a cool new mod comes out, you might have to wait a loooong time for someone else to build you the perfect mission or campaign, so I'm a firm believer in helping one's good self...

Welcome to the joys of the Full Mission Builder!

Used to be that when you were first confronted by that big blue screen, your mates would tell you go check out Flying Nutcase's way cool website that would show you everything you needed to get started.  Alas, Nutcase's site has been down for a long time, it's looking like he may have moved on to new endeavors.  I hope he'll be back... but in the meanwhile I've got a brand new Win7, 4.101, ModAct 3 install with nothing to do... I've also got Nutcase's stuff archived... and since he's a fellow Kiwi it only seems right to dedicate this thread to him and recreate for the new fellas some of what us old hands enjoyed back in the day.  I'll never be able to do justice to the original site, but I think I can post up the gist of what Nutcase shared.

Check back often for step by step instructions to create your first missions and campaigns.

And, aside from a bit of plagiarism - Here's to you, Flying Nutcase!  ;D

IL2-FullMissionBuilder.com was a fully navigable website - and to prevent this thread from becoming unwieldy to navigate, I'll make this a 'parent thread', and link here to child threads for the different sections of the tutorial.  I hope you find it useful. Just click the links below.

Great idea Biggles.
I have browsed Nutcase's old site many times.
This is a wonderful tool for beginners - and even old hands can learn a thing or two from experienced mission builders.
I suggest that all the congratulatory responses - including my own - be regularly cleared from the thread so that it remains clear and comprehensive - but I also suggest NOT to lock it, as incoming ideas on how to do specific Mission Building Tricks, and what to cover from members could be helpful.

Chiao for now.
