Well I tried again with a really clean (never used, only started to ) DBW 1.6 that worked. It has no missions, skins, mods or anything in it. I followed the instructions step by step, but still freeze at 95%  when I add 1.7 :-\

logfile is still the same, the thing with the FM's.

EDIT : will try to redownload, as some others said it solved their issues...

For those who'd like to check the logfile but don't see any useful information in there, please be aware that IL-2 by default lazily flushes the log file buffers, so your game might have CTD'd before the log could be written.
In that case please (temporarily) install this mod: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19308.0.html
It will ensure that each log entry will make it into the logfile no matter what.

Best regards - Mike

made the switch.
DBW1.6 (+Jsgme mods)
remove jsgme mods (the ones that came with DBW 1.6, i dont have anything else)
DBW 1.6 bare naked
switch for UP (Jsgme -> enable UP, selector switch UP)
Run UP
Switch for Stock 4.101
Run Stock
Unpack 7Zip, follow instructions.
Run stock 4.101
Switch for DBW 1.7 (1024MB)
Run DBW 1.7
Go to Jsgme and enable my "ecranwide"
...no crash.
--> Happy Camper.

Gents...

for those guys thinging they may have missed something in the updates from a 1.0 install to a 1.7 install, which is confusing as hell at times and tedious at best. By the end of the weekend I should have the "one stop DBW 1.7" uploaded. It will be about 2.5 Gigs, and it will be a split 7z archive.

That should make life a lot easier for many.

For those of us on dial-up or using their phone for an internet connection, I sure hope they aren't that big. Otherwise I'll be back fishing and flying 1.6 DBW in the evening.

For 1.7, read instructions 3 times, have a cup of coffee, read intructions again, backup copy of 1.6

Install 1.7 as per instructions

Works perfectly first time, thanks very much  :)

Leave them fish alone  ;) ;)

I did put that mod in #DBW, but the log doesn't show anything more useful than what I posted earlier...
just the FM lists...

Since installing DBW 1.7, none of my keyboard commands work except for F1 and F2. And I checked my controls. They were set as before. I also cannot change a command to a keyboard command (letter) in the controls section. Is this just me? I installed 1.7 exactly as directed.

Addendum: None of the keyboard letters work. The arrows, space bar, and Number pad function. Makes no sense.

Help.

Has no one experienced this? I've tried redownloading and reinstalling 1.7 to no avail. Since 1.7 has been installed, Il-2 simply won't recognize keyboard letters. And it's not my keyboard which functions with everything else.

no, the upgrade does not change your controls file (wherever that thing is stored).

Guys 1.7 installs absolutely fine, there must be something that people are overlooking. Hey Cirx jsut a quick request but is it possible to provide checksums for the downloads? It would be a great time saver. Cheers man and congrats on another great release

no, the upgrade does not change your controls file (wherever that thing is stored).

Now that you mention it, I would like to copy my old controls file instead of setting up all the commands once again in 1.7 since it is a lengthy process to get it back to how it is now personaized. Does anyone know which file to copy? Where the commands file is located?

And just to tie in to the other posts above, my keyboard commands work perfectly fine in 1.7. I have no problem with them at all.

Unfortunately, for me, the problem persists. The letter commands are not recognized and I can't even type in new commands using the control function - if the commands are letters. This stinks.
