in the 1.7 download, look for a "technics.ini".
if in 1.7, that file is different from your custom one, the mods will probably have problems running.
since everything is working fine, i suspect no "1.7 specific" technics.ini file is included, and that explains why your armor is working fine.

edit: there is a technics.ini file in the download, so watch out for the changes between your custom one and the DBW 1.7 version.

Especially for SAS Malone   :D ;)

Downloaded the new and awesome DBW 1.7

I read the instructions regarding the particular filles to delete a number of times

Installed step by step

Everything perfect   ;D :D ;)

Install wasn't as tricky as it seemed.

Follow the instructions step by step you should have no problems   ;D :D

@Ribs
That is why the QMB PRO mod was deleted from the JSGME folder... if you followed the instructions.
because possibly, probably, the QMBpro mod might not work as before any more or some such thing.

@btasm: so you did not follow the install instructions - would you have done so, your keys and letters would have worked.
(...ü?"*ç%)

whats funny...
Bob holmes describes himself as an olt fart, not too smart. (to paraphrase)
He can get it done.

LOLz.
reading instructions carefully is half the Job.
Way to start a day. at least things can go uphill from here.
Come on, guys...

Followed the instructions to the letter. Like I said , everything is working fine and is brilliant except the "Naval" QMB missions.

Guess I belong to the 99%-loony-squad. Totally porked my DBW install.  :'( I will erase everything and rebuild it from Build 1 and up.

@Uzin: At the risk of sounding a bit snappy, may I ask you to reconsider the slight possibility of having FUBARed the game yourself before pointing your finger at anything and anyone else?
Besides the fact that the log contents which you've posted aren't what you've been asked for (you've posted the selector's internal init log instead of the game log, look for log.lst and if you don't have that file, use the forum search function to see how to get it), it still tells us a useful fact:

Obviously you've selected 1GB RAM in the selector.
How many times, both in this thread and all across the board, has the advice been given to start with smallest RAM size first in case of trouble?
It's so many I just can't count them anymore...

Apart from that and to all others with 6DOF related issues, please keep in mind (as stated a dozen times in this thread) that you have to enable 6DOF classfiles in order to get trackir/6dof to work. On the selector side, just as a sidenote, 6DOF is always enabled since it does no harm to non-6dof users to have it enabled there.

As a rule of thumb, if things do work fine for 99 out of 100 users, the one left caused trouble on his own (exceptions granted).

Best regards - Mike

For guy doing manual installa updating (preserving their own custom technics or air.ini's for example, and manualy removing the lines that need removal, and adding new lines that need addin: You guys MUST find and download a freeware opensource app called Winmerge http://winmerge.org/

It will absolutely save your asses everytime.

Then to others who feel that somewhere between 1.0 and 1.7 they missed something, and now it is just getting more confusing and broken, sit tight, I am uploading the "Big DBW Superinstall" and it will only take me another day and a half to complete. It is a 4 part zip archive, each part is 550mb large, and when you have them all, you will have the complete 1.71 DBW that you can copy and past to your UP3 RC4 install as it is, knowing it is all there in the right way, like the way your mamma used to put together downloads. ;)

I greatly appreciate your work in modding and understanding the background of the game programming, be sure. I do not want to point to anybody else than me, but there is repatedly proved fact: when using Il-2 Selector 2.2.2., even with 256MB RAM, the game crashes, while when replacing il2fb.exe file by that of DBW 1.6, the game DBW1,7 runs well. Full stop.
As it concerns the log file, I ask you to excuse my mistake, I have not used it never before, so I must first to learn it.
Thank you very much for your effort to help us, greenhorns, in running the game.
Best regards,
Ivan Uzin

EDIT:
Here is log.lst when trying to run DBW1.7 with Selector and 512MB RAM, I hope it is what was asked:

For me, !.7 worked fine from start. The crash with DBW1916 was because of QMBpro mod in JSGM. Apparently is uncompatible with 1916 (may be everybody knew it already). Desabling it, you can play with every other options, just have to remember to reactivate it again for 1.7 because...well, it's sooo much better than the regular QMB.
I made several copies of the 1.7 install, one to save for future updates, another for my custom 1936 install. Changed everything in air and stationary ini, skins, added lots of mods (working almost all of them except He-60, Do I need a new DiffFM mod?) Works smooth and fast. :)

Volle Deckung!  ;D

@uzin: I fixed the/a similar Problem by activating the #DBW_6dofTrackIR_ClassFiles.

Sorry Uzin, didn't want to tread on your toes.
As for the logfile, I'm not sure whether or not you've used this mod to fully create it: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,19308.0.html
I'm asking since your log.lst ends before any interesting stuff appears.

Besides that, please consider blaubaer's advice again which solved the 6DOF issues for any other user so far AFAIK.

Best regards - Mike

Had the same problems as Kpn Cardiff, but erasing the whole game and starting from scratch with 4.101, UP3m, DBW build 1.1 and up allowed me to get a working 1.7 from a clean, new 1.6.

So I guess that's what you can do in the worst case.

And I also guess that my own earlier problems came from clashes with old mods I had installed.

DBW 1.7 worked perfectly, but since installing hotfix i CTD at 5%.

I just copied and pasted from hotfix zip to my install after selecting "sotck game" and moving everything left in jsgme.

spalshscreen says 1.71, 5%, then CTD. What did i do wrong ?  :'(
