Hi all:

Well, again, I'm a little late in updating but was hoping to avoid a lot of headaches. Not working!

Tecnico66 had a problem back on page 20 with the Selector blipping off and right back on again after hitting "Start IL-2 now!" without the game loading.  Enabling the menu choice "Exit Selector when IL-2 Quits" would remove the selector screen immediately after hitting "Start IL-2 now!" as though the game had loaded then was shut down.

I used a clean, base Il2 4.10.1 with UP3 RC4 installed (I keep a copy on another hard drive altogether for just this purpose) that was confirmed working fine. I disabled all the JSGME mods and then used the Build 1.71 Superinstall.

I have the same problem as Tecnico66 but can't seem to figure out his solution. I don't have TrackIR and don't have his "newview" software either.

Can someone out there help?

Did you remember to start the selector once after updating?
Besides the il2fb.exe, which previously launched the selector (which it won't do now anymore), your updated installation contains a link called "IL-2 Selector". This link has to be launched once after install and you have to choose your settings and save them once at least.

SAS~Storebror:

Yes. for once I read the manual and even did what it said. Really. I know I'm a guy and it's not something guys are supposed to do (and even I have a hard time believing I RTFM!). On the other hand, having read the manual there's no guarantee that I read it right. Something else guys are known to do.

I just get this nagging feeling that, after reading here all the perfect installations, I've missed some important point that, when it gets fixed, I'm gonna smack my head for it.

It will be quite hard to judge what went wrong actually.
Usually the "blipping" IL-2 is a 5% CTD, which would mean that something's wrong with the files.sfs file.
However the DBW 1.71 Superpack is supposed to replace that file so the one you have now should be the right one.

One thing you might want to do is to rename the folders "#DBW", "#DBW_1916" and "jsgmemods" as much as they already exist on your system and the install the superpack on top again.
Then run the "IL-2 Selector.exe" once more, choose DBW and 256MB RAM and see what gives.

I was just wondering how many here have used the giant one-go super install for DBW?

I've tried setting up a new DBW 1.7 install using the superpack. I started with a clean 4.07 install. Twice however about 1/3 into the install, I get a blue screen of death error message and after a few seconds my whole system reboots.

I still have the old files to install DBW 1.7 and those work fine, albeit they take longer to install.

So I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem with the one-step install?

the blue screen... problem deeper than a program, a problem with the Windows, or even hardware?

Well, I would have thought so too ... only I tried this on a completely and totally new and fresh install of my whole system ... about a week after the fresh install ... and installing DBW the old way - 4.07 to 4.101 then to UP3.0 rc4 and then dbw 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 ... well that works fine ...

Now in any case, I am set for DBW 1.7, flying and map maker versions, but I was just curious about the one-step install from 4.07 ... it would have been a big time saver.

Now that the DBW 1.7 superpack installer is nothing but a self extracting rar file, I bet my boots that this is nothing but an issue related to your hardware and/or OS installation.
You might want to check your mobo and sata drivers, the temp of your CPU during extraction process and your HDD's smart parameters.

agracier,
I had no problems with the DBW F’nBigSuperPack one step install - installed like a dream first time (btw - the pack is an impressive piece of work, congratulations to all involved) , although in my case from a 4.09 base version I keep as a backup for mod installations, not ver4.07. Maybe there might be an issue between vers 4.07 to 4.09 - although what I haven't a clue! Probably you have hardware or OS issues as Mike stays. I'm running Window$ 7 64bit Pro, if that is any help.
Currently at playing monty's DAF campaign on it without any problems.
Cheers

I just spent 3 days, and down loaded the entire pack(s) straight from 4.07 and from 4.10. up3 and dbw, and the combo, and I could not get DBW to run. I though I had corrupt downloads and re-downloaded and same problem.

If you are using any type of head tracking device, you HAVE to activate the 6DoF from the DBW JSGMe selections. All that, and I knew the answer was simple, and it was.

Thanks for Packs ~SAS~. Looks great, through these blurry eyes.

Snap!

I'm afraid that I'm failing to elicit a response from the "Start Il-2 Now" button too. Fully functioning DBW 1.6 (in all its glory, thank you all once again), clean apart from the JSGME packs (disabled before anything else, as per usual, and highlighted when R'ingTFM!); download looked fine, extract went fine and copying went fine...or so I thought. I didn't have time to fiddle, and it'll be a good month before I get any leave and any chance to work out what happened, but if this is happening to a few people it'd be handy to know if anyone's found the source of the problem and/or a solution.

Thanks again to all behind each mod in DBW, and the superb packaging - up until now it's been a dream! And seeing the huge number of successes makes me very sure I've just messed something up somewhere somehow!

Screwy

Edit: Foolishly I didn't run the game between the 1.7 and 1.71 updates, so can't offer any info on that front. DBW has been so effortless to install that I've obviously been lulled into a sense of false security and bad habits!
