You can as well let your "Program Files" folder be on another drive :P

Hi all.  I installed 1.7 over my 1.6 and all goes well. Until I trie to use my Track Ir. Example. Leave Track Ir 3 pro off and start DBW. No problem. Turn Track Ir 3 pro on and start DBW, I get an error message, saying something about track Ir 6 Dof mod not working or the like.  DBW CTD. Any one else had this. Apologies if this has already been answered in this thread...There are a lot of posts.

Re: DBW 1.71 stopped working
« Reply #280 on: March 30, 2012, 06:07:45 AM »

Was flying in DBW 1.71 in the morning, and all of a suddenly in the afternoon I can no loner start the game at all.

When I clicked the short cut, nothing happen.  Clicking on the selector brings it up, but when I click 'start IL-2 now' again nothing happens.  Clicking on il2fb.exe - again nothing happen.

Tried disabling all mods and enable UP3, then select UP3 in selector and start game - nothing happens.

Tried select stock game and start - again nothing happens.

This is my initlog.lst - does anyone have any idea on why this may be the case?

Please try to safe your settings in the selector before running IL-2 again.
If you happen to have some copy of IL-2 in a safe place, checking the "files.sfs" file for changes is a valid hint.

I have a crash @ 40 %

I had made the mistake to install 4.10.1 before 4.17 ( misstaken it for the latest patch). DBW 1.7 works with wrong patch. Then I realise the mistake, and install the right patch. before install 4.17 again I do all the readme says (deleting folders ). Stock game with 4.11 runs, but with DBW I get crash @ 40 %

Mike,

Thanks for the quick response -

1)  I did saved the setting every time I changed setting in the selector

2) The files.sfs in the copy where there is a problem - it was only modified more than a month ago, and it was the date when I installed DBW 1.71.

Thanks,

4.17
Four point what?

Stock game with 4.11 runs, but with DBW I get crash @ 40 %
We're still at 4.10.1m with DBW. If your Stock game is 4.11, it's incompatible with DBW.

@ben_wh: As a matter of fact, according to your initlog.lst your game doesn't even get to the point where it would begin to run. Nothing's happening, java doesn't start, so there's something very very basic going wrong already. That's where a game is FUBAR unless you have some knowledge of how to compare files of a running game with a non-running one.
In order to ease up things, I'd recommend to reinstall IL-2 from the scratch (usually gives you something between 4.07m and 4.09m) and update it straight away using the "Stock 4.07m to DBW 1.71 SuperPack" which you can find here: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=21514.msg239532#msg239532
It's a big download but the torrents are running pretty well meanwhile, so take your time and grab what you can get.
