hold on!
direct to drive patch, because the game is coming from steam?
use the Direct to drive patch first, before installing the superpack...
(anyone confirm...?)
superpack comes last.
Stilll could that be the source of your trouble... do not know.

Don't use it at all.
It's in the superpack already.

If you install the d2d patch after installing the superpack then you've messed up everything since you'll bring in an outdated files.sfs again.
If you install the d2d patch before installing the superpack it won't hurt but it's pointless.

The superpack works excellent with it but it might mess up the DBW. Will try to make a second installation of the game on my computer to see what happens.

I'll be back within a day or two.

If you are confused, imagine what I am. :-)

I am trying a clean install again without the drive to drive patch. In a few minutes we will have the answer if this makes it work.

Happy Eastern and thanks for all help, by the way!

No, the dd patch had nothing to do with it. It is still 1.6.I made a clean install and even looked for hidden files. This is kind of crazy. The game still crashes at 60%.

I Installed the game (to 4.07) and then the DBW from Stock 4.07 since there is no one from 4,101: "SAS F'nBigSuperPack". (via the torrent http://koti.mbnet.fi/raukorpi/SAS_F%27nBigSuperPack.torrent )

:-(

But why the heck does this make me get 1.6???

Do you have links to some kind of update that takes 1.6 to 1.71? I could try that one and see what happens?

Jerlup, whatever you happened to install, it's for sure something different than the superpack from the torrent you mentioned.

There simply isn't any way this superpack could give you a DBW 1.6 version. Full stop. Go figure.

Now that we don't have a crystal ball which could tell us what exactly you did, there's one thing left we could do for you if you provide us with the following information:
Open a command prompt (from the start menu, run "cmd.exe").
Go to the drive and folder where your DBW installation (the one which is not working for you now) is in.
For instance if your DBW is installed in "D:\IL2\DBW", type:
Code: [Select]
D:<ENTER>
cd \IL2\DBW<ENTER>
Where "<ENTER>" means pressing the "Enter" key.

When you are there, type the following to check whether you are where you ought to be:
Code: [Select]
dir files.sfs<ENTER>This should give you a report of the "files.sfs" file with a size of 28.525.870 bytes.

If that's the case, go enter the following:
Code: [Select]
dir /s /ogen >dbwlog.txt<ENTER>
This will create a file "dbwlog.txt" in your DBW folder. This file holds a report of all your files in that folder and in it's subfolders. The file has a size of roughly 2 Megabytes.
Go to https://www.mediafire.com/ and upload this "dbwlog.txt" file.
The come back here and post the download link to that file. We'll take a look at it then and with a little luck we'll see what went wrong.

just to clarify - there is a difference.

DBW 1916 = 1.6. that is normal. Just as it is meant to be
DBW "regular" = 1.71. that is normal as well.

Hmm ... my install also reports bld 1.6 when loading 1916 (normal DBW reports v1.71), however 1916 runs OK after lowering the RAM setting in the selector to 256mb (I run standard DBW at 512mb RAM).

No such file to be found.  No files.sfs at all in the DBW folder.

here is a screenshot of the command prompt.

http://ligator.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/skc3a4rmklipp.jpg

The game is installed as #DBW by default not DBW as in your example. But otherwise I did what you asked me.

Il-2 6 DOF Tir-anabled executable does not work is the message I get when I attempt to fly the DBW 1916. (That is, when i disable everything that comes with the install with the JSGME. As I said I could start the game dbw only without enable anything else that the UP3. The DBW stock game does not start whatever I do..)

And the mysterious 1.6 might be a strange way to explain that the version of the game I am playing with is 16 (!).

To sum up. As was explained here the text with 1.6 where the version of DBW is mentioned had to do with the fact that I was trying to load the DBW 1916. Not that easy to understand for an outsider. :-) I hope you understand that I belived it to be 1.6?!

The problem remains, even if I got the thing about 1.6 explained. that means that I did wrong that assumed that I should activade all the new mods.

DBW does not start at all and DBW 16 freezes and crashes when I try to fly a plane ( Il-2 6 DOF Tir-anabled executable does not work  ).
