Hej Jerlerup,

let's try to sort some things.
As much as I can see from your installation folder, your game likely is installed in C:\IL-2 and not in C:\IL-2\#DBW.
C:\IL-2\#DBW would be the folder where you'd install additional mods in, but forget about that unless your game is running fine.

Next thing is the game version.
You're trying to run DBW 1916, which is still on Version 1.6. That's right and there's nothing to argue about.

However there are several things to take care of when switching between DBW, DBW 1916 and UP3.
Prior to running DBW 1916 please make sure to take care of the following:

  • Run JSGME and disable all mods except, if you like to have it, "#DBW_Ecran Wide for 4.101"
  • Run the IL-2 Selector, click "Change Settings", Choose "DBW" as game type and a safe RAM setting like 256MB or 512MB, "Expert Mode" disabled.
  • Click "Save Settings".
  • Run IL-2. This should get you to the default DBW 1.71 game.
  • Start the Quick Mission Builder and select a flight with just one plane, no enemies. Your plane should be the "Bf-109 E-4", Map shall be "Smolensk".
  • Run that Quick Mission for a second or two and exit. Quit the game.
  • Run the IL-2 Selector, click "Change Settings", Choose "DBW 1916" as game type and a safe RAM setting like 256MB or 512MB, "Expert Mode" disabled.
  • Click "Save Settings".
  • Run IL-2. This should get you to the DBW 1916 1.6 game now.

Hope that helps.

Med vänliga hälsningar - Mike

I cant start the default DBW program. I have done as you say.

I made an attempt to get it to work now by disabeling the UP3.0 too, to see if that works, but no.

With nothing enabled I can start the 1916 program and choose a ww1 plane. I cant fly it: Il-2 6 DOF Tir-anabled executable does not work

The DBW does not even start, whatever I do.

With all relevanmt DBW files enabled the DBW does not start and the DBW 16 crashes after 70%

You "must" disable UP3 in JSGME, try enabling 6DOF in jsgme and delete .last.quick in quicks folder.
Many had issue without 6DOF in jsgme

Finally.

I did this: "For DBW1916 try to delete .last.quick from Quicks in the root folder."

and I also disabled the UPC 3.0. One should not have UP 3.0 enablad at all when trying to fly DBW.

It works fine now.

I think that some, like I did, assume that UP 3.0 should be enabled since DBW is based on UP 3.0. The advise is that one should disable BEFORE installing the game. I would add that one should NOT enable anything at all after installing the game and that 3.0 SHOULD NOT be enabled.

The modded games I have played before have not worked this way. I assumed that the enabeling of the underlaying mod, 3.0, is necessary to make the final mod (DBW) work.

In case there are more problems the quick thing might be useful.

Hopefully this might help some others too and that you are not too mad at me. :-)

Sorry but if one say: "•Run JSGME and disable all mods except, if you like to have it, "#DBW_Ecran Wide for 4.101"", what do you assume? ;)

this is because when you enable UP, the game tries to run the UP il2fb.exe instead of the DBW one.

...which means nothing but if you followed my advice, you would have had no issues.
Read again:

  • Click "Save Settings".
  • Run IL-2. This should get you to the DBW 1916 1.6 game now.

It's really frustrating to try to help when the one you're trying to help turns out to be resistant against advice ::)

Best regards - Mike
