Sorry. I actually believed that UP3.0 was essential for the DBW and had to be enabled and that you did not mean it. A bug in my brain.

not true... YOU help anyone in such a way.
People having trouble (i mean that in a very general way) need to read.
a topic of 28 pages contains a lot of information, and "tech help people"motivated to go through all the basics over and over again... are not easy to find. And it indeed is tiring. (tyring?)

Let us not forget that this is not a service center, where we treat one customer after another, 24/7 until the program is running...
...but rather collect issues and fixes for others to get themselves started on their own.

Other people's mistakes and their solution are before the public eye for all to use.
and as they say at the dinner table:
Help yourself!

Hi all:

Whew!! Just went through these 28 pages and feel confident I haven't found the following problem:

History:

I had Build 1.5 running, and running very well for a long time. I didn't want or need Build 1.6 so, while I dl'd it, I didn't install it. When Build 1.7 came out I dl'd and waited some more. I dl'd the hotfix 1.71 then, when the F4 Phantom came out I finally started the long climb to updating. I installed Build 1.6 and ran it so as to make sure nothing was amiss. I then carefully read all I could about Build 1.7 and, after several issues with the Selector I finally got things running fine. I installed the Phantom and again, all is fine. Up to this point I hadn't run DBW 1916 because, well, I wasn't that interested. Now, however, my interest is piqued and I've gone in to try some of those wood and canvas kites. They're a hoot to fly.

I add all this extraneous detail to show that I haven't just jumped into this thing.

Here's the problem:

I'm missing about 45 maps. Including the most important ones - the WWI maps (WWI English Channel; WWI Italian Front; Meggido; Somme)! I went through FMB and tried loading all the maps and can give you the full list if you want them but maybe someone else knows a quick fix for this.

Of the other maps I have no problems flying on them whatsoever; and, again, they're really a hoot to fly.

Here's hoping.

mojojojo:

Thanks for the link. No wonder I didn't find it - it's way down on page three of Dark Blue World Discussion & Support.

I'll go try it right now.

Really sorry to keep bugging you guys over here, but I have yet ANOTHER problem that no-one seems to have been able to solve in my quick search.
After problems trying to unzip the superpack, I finally managed it, copied the files over and dabbled with the selector a bit. However, when trying to start DBW I crash at 40%.
I'm running IL-2 4.11m, DBW 1.71 Superpack and followed the manual word for word. It ran fine on UP RC4, but this seems to have stuffed it.
Thanks AGAIN for your great help.

EDIT: With a bit of experimentation, I've discovered I can load DBW 1916 to 60% before a crash, if that's helpful.

KNEW IT. I knew that was likely to be the problem. Allow me to guess further: I can't backdate, and there is no update planned for the near future for 4.11?

no update planned, maybe you can remove all the files that come with 4.11, but it's not an easy task

Hmm. Very temping though. Hey, if I break it, Steam can fix it. Time to find a list of what 4.11 does...

EDIT: Nonono, that ain't gonna work. And even if I reinstall, Steam downloads the latest version... ARGH.

Well, if you want mod your IL2 it's better to move your IL2 folder because it colud screw your game.
You can install the 4.11 patch in an empty folder and remove those files from your IL2, reapply DBW and pray ;)
