DBW question.
« on: February 01, 2012, 12:57:12 AM »

I've been looking around this forum all week, reading this and that and I'm very interested in this DBW mod.

The thing is, from what I've read, all I know about it is that it's aimed at offline players an it looks awesome but...

<Start Lenny Kravitz>

What I really wanna know is..

</Kravitz>

What's actually IN it??????????

It's maddening, there's nothing anywhere in this forum that explains what the mod contains and how it makes offline play better. Can somebody please give me the cliff-notes? I'd be much obliged.

Think UP3...
With all the miscellaneous on-line crap yanked out.

Runs better, faster, and stronger!
But in all seriousness I get much better performance with DBW than UP3

Also specific content can be see in the description of each installment of DBW found here:

Okay, so everything and the kitchen sink.

I read through those notes for each upgrade and got a bit of an idea but does DBW add much in the way of DGEN campaigns with all of the content it adds?

I'd love to fly a Dgen campaign on the channel map or be able to make my own with DCG, are either of those things possible?

There is a Dgen mod as a beta, but it has nothing to do (yet?) with DBW and it still has some bugs. But when it will be complete you can play on any mod map.

I'm sure you can make your own DCG campaigns, but dont ask me how  :-[

There are some guys here that make campaigns with DCG maybe you can ask them how to.

Wow, that is great news on all counts. Thanks for the very helpful replies.

Offline Il-2 is looking more hopeful and amazing than ever before.

Awesome KB, thanks for the links.

I've decided to give DBW a go, it just looks too good to resist. Hopefully the AI mod from here is up to the standard of 4.11's AI, that's the real game-maker or breaker for me but, even with crappy stock AI it still looks like a winner just for some of the features I've seen in these forums.

Those campaigns look like the business, do these guys need any help with that do you think? I'd be happy to put in some of my time if it was needed.

Jimmy, it is possible to add much of the UP3 and DBW stuff to 4.11. Get the beta mod-activator here, add the UP3/DBW sfs files to your 4.11 install, and add the UP3/DBW lines for the various sfs files to the rc file in your Files folder. You need to add the extra maps to your all.ini in your Mapmods folder within the Mods folder from the mod-act, or simply replace it with the all.ini from DBW. With this done, you should be able to get maps, cockpits, many other textures, and some sounds from DBW, although a proper sound matrix hasn't been developed yet for modded 4.11.

DBW 1.71 includes jetwar 1.2. UP3 has jetwar 1.1.

Well, it's installing as I type this, I'm practically peeing my pants with excitement so fingers crossed that ti works and that I don't electrocute myself when the puddle on the floor reaches the adapter.

Thanks for the tip there SkyHigh, I'll be looking into that very soon I think.

Mojojojojo, I know! It has the F-4 Phantom right? OMG OMG!!!
