Breda 27
« on: February 01, 2012, 04:33:14 PM »

Refused by Italian Regia Aeronautica, still interested to biplanes, the Breda 27 was instead selected by Chinese Air Force which, after a mission in Italy on 1935, purchased 18 exemplars of this monoplane, fixed landing gear, single seat, all metal, fighter aircraft powered by an Alfa Romeo Mercurius, Italian version of British Mercury IV, radial engine (530 HP) and armed with two 7,7 mm machine guns. With the eleven Breda 27s actually delivered was equipped the Third Fighter Group of Chung-Hua Min-Kuo K'ung-Chün (the Nationalist Chinese Air Force). The engagement of Breda 27s against the Japanese during the Sino-Japanese War is unclear. The fighter Breda was in operational service in China until 1938. Other Italian-built fighter purchased by China were the Fiat CR.30s and CR.32s. Victor Sierra

Gee just almost a straight up copy..... almost like they did with the p-35 and re 2000. Would at least make for a neat hack or something.

I dunno Cranky, get rid of the rigging mast in front of the 'pit,
replace the tail wheel with a tail skid, install a pair 12.7
Breda-SAFAT machine guns, hang a 3 bladed ground adjustable prop
on it and tweak the FM to reflect the listed specs'....I'd say
you'd have it nailed...Hell, I'd be happy to fly it! ;D

A really great choice for a mod ... just love those obscure and odd looking 1930's planes  ...

Should you need any help with a template, don't hesitate to ask ...

It isn't much but there doesn't seem to be a lot on this bird
as far as pics and drawings. Hope it's some help.

This is one of the fastest modelling after request I've ever seen. It's looking pretty good already. As I told to Deutchsmark about the P-26, I love these Mickey Mouse's planes. They look as 3D cartoon, but they were good fighters for their time, indeed.

Now that is a great description of planes from this era: Mickey Mouse Planes ... ha ha. I sometimes used Tintin planes, as they were often drawn like these in the old stories of Tintin, but Mickey Mouse sounds better. Especially as MM was often used as a mascot or insignia by pilots back then as well ...
