Grass
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:27:34 PM »

Thought I'd finally get around to requesting this.  One of the things I believe that IL-2 is missing is some sort of grass - even primitive grass.  Sort of an immersion killer to be taxiing down the runway, look out, and there's the ground texture staring back at you ???

And here are some images of grass :)

This has been discussed sense the first mods started coming out.No one has found a way to do it that wouldn't be a massive frame rate killer.

Rise of Flight has nice waving grass on the airfields it also has a function so you can turn it off if your frame rates are to low when you have it enabled.

Yeah, I thought grass was purple or something and 1C and Ubi just screwed it over so badly, like the green tracers on the il-2/10. Nah, I agree though, we need some new grass. Maybe someone could take the texture of the water and tweak the crap out of it to make it look like its blowing or something.

Maybe...
"wood areas" that "do not harm" the plane and any other object.

and since wood areas are 4 or 5 layers of polygons, lower them (shrink) about a foot high
and then paint them so they look like grass.

or paint them to look like wheat fields... :)
