Log.lst -- not init -- found it, thnx.  Adding it here via pastebin:

https://pastebin.com/RL1BeRGf

I am running VP modpack with SAS ModAct 5.30/4.12.2.  Selector version is 4.02   It's been hard to retrace my steps... I think I got into trouble when I tried to add three really nice looking mods which are all listed as 4.1.2 compatible:

Ranwers' "Avro Lancaster Mk III v.3.2 - with collated updates and fixes"  which instructed me to install the "latest" buttons point me to a download link of 2 sets of offline and online buttons (confusing) dated 2/20/13.  Which is weird because my pre-install button (which I saved in a backup folder) is actually dated 11//22/2017.  There is also a 3rd button version (dated 10/30/13) which I extracted from a fresh install of the Modact 5.3 to a temp folder -- I tried all three button versions one at a time to no avail :(

Ranwers' "Halifax - Re-work" -- tested after install, no problems.

Sani's "B24J with more loadout options and with new fm" -- didn't get to test.

Full disclosure: I did install the Common Utilities mod for the "Me-264 with BMW engines v1.1" which I also downloaded but didn't get to install....cart before the horse here - yeah probably.  Wondering if maybe that caused some problems?  I have since un-installed CU and the dll file along with it.

Anyway -- thanks for your replies so far -- hope I can get this thing solved.

there is so much errors about ships in there I dont know where to start ... if you want to point the 60% to an aircraft though, here we go:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.maddox.il2.objects.air.Leo_451

as VPModpack is very old and oudated, I would switch to BAT for 4.12 modded game pleasures;
also, as you said you cannot retrace what you did - thats the worst thing you can do if you dont know how a modded game here really works! just throwing mods into a folder and hoping everything will run fine is a sure way to spend many hours in frustration;
if you are new to modding, add one mod at a time, read through the release threads, even if they are several pages long and for heavens sake BACK UP the ini files first!!!
there is a lot of documentation for newbies here how to back stuff up and how to configure the game, would be a good idea to read those first...

retracing is easy once you know what you are doing - otherwise, you end with a crashing game and dont know what to do...

I back up my entire STD folder every few days -- so pretty good about ini files and such.  Weird to see the Italian mod ship errors in the log.lst because I have NOT downloaded or installed any Italian ships!  Have never installed the LeO-451 either -- must have come with VP Modpack.

But I hear what you're saying about best practices: add one mod at a time, read through the release threads, etc. -- good be be reminded about all that.

I decided to go with VP Modpack because I'm mostly interested in WWII (not really into jets) and because of the smaller install -- but I will take your advice, start from scratch and install BAT 4.12 ...80 gigs [gulp].

Back to square one.  Thanks for you reply.

For WW2 you just need redcore...and trust me, its head and shoulders above anything that VPModpack can offer...and there is a lot of campaigns that need the added content in BAT...

It's a bit of a work to download and set it up in the first place, but once it's running, it's easy to maintain and you will like it I am sure!

I am a Rebel but I have to admit that the "BAT" pack is very good.  ;)
But don't think I'm turning my back!

Just spent the better part of the afternoon installing BAT 4.0.  On the very first mission I fly in the QMB, I get a ....wait for it..."ERROR - data file corrupt."  Off to blazing start here!

Hello WWIIBuff65,

what's now? Problem solved or not?  ;)

WWII cinema without Lancasters and B-17's is possible, but not fun!  ;)

Best regards,

70% cdt weist auf einen Konflikt zwischen einer Ihrer ini-Dateien (static.ini, technic.ini oder Chiefs.ini ) und tatsächlichen neuen Objekten in Ihren Mod-Dateien hin

Hello Griff,

mostly it is an error in the "air.ini"!

Plane deleted from the mods folder but not from the air.ini - or vice versa.

Best regards,
