So I decided to reinstall this, and all was good until I added the last update 4.2 and Hotfix 4, I had inadvertently extracted it to a folder instead of the game so I dragged it to the folder and it crashed at 20% so I reinstalled everything (this was only for WAW all the other mods worked) after I redownloaded all the files I did it again and still got a crash so while looking in the files I discovered a folder labeled IL-2 Sturmovik and inside was an SFS file and a couple other things so I dropped it in the main and now it crashes at 60%. I've looked at the log and there's a handful of classes not found that appear to be mostly static but some maybe flyables
ex: Main begin: PlMisAir(GUIQuick): class 'air.P_36AT' not found. How should I proceed? did I miss a download somewhere?

you can use pastebin.com (or whatever you like) and then post the link to the file

Personally, I think that the installation of 4.2.2 hf 4 should be redone.
As you are a forward thinking person, I am sure you have tested v4.2.1 and as it works fine you have made a backup.
And this time install 4.2.2 hf 4 correctly.  ;)

I added the paste to my original post, I'm an old hand at this having worked on HSFX many moons ago. I'm thinking its a corrupted file because some of the rars don't have the RAR icon just the one windows uses when it cant find it so I re-downloaded them and 2,3,4 are all without.

I've extracted all of it to it's own folder just out of caution but I'm waiting for a reply on the log before I drop it in. This is a lot of Gigs to be swapping back and forth so before I delete all the excess again  ::( I'll wait and see what is determined.

I checked your log and definitely you are missing a bunch of things so you will need a reinstall and the cleanest way is to do as suggested by Epervier: reinstall 4.2.2 on top of a clean 4.2.1. I can se that you would prefer to reinstall 4.2.2 on top of what you have but you will never be sure of the outcome and at the first problem you will be back at square one.

I did better than that I took it back to a working Flashpoint and I extracted 4.2.2 to a separate folder and dropped the contents on the BAT install, oddly it starts telling me That there are files missing from what I'm installing starting with Paint Schemes, I've downloaded these files 3 times now https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,69807.0.html
and every time I install it borks at 60% as I said earleir in the thread they dont look right, the first one shows an Icon and the other three have a little white icon, I had to tell windows they were rar files so maybe they were corrupted? Anyway it works up to 4.2 so I'm baffled. ]dontknow[
[edit] and I think I know now... 4.2.2 doesn't include 4.2.1? hmm
re-edit yep I thought the last update included it that was it. Problem solved

ok I can see the problem, you need just to run the exe and it will install the content of all the 4 rar in one go. You will have to point it directly to your BAT install and not to a temporary folder as the installer will look for already installed files to modify or delete old staff that is way he is missing files. If you point it to a temporary folder and then copy and overwrite your BAT it will never work that's why we have an installer otherwise 4 simple rar file would be sufficient.

I did all the installers first time, and outsmarted myself thinking something was getting corrupted. I didn't notice I was missing 4.2.1 (I was tired been at this a while) after I read the line "as suggested by Epervier: reinstall 4.2.2 on top of a clean 4.2.1" I had the Ah ha! moment and I got it totally sorted. Game runs great and I played the Crimson BAT first mission just now.
I feel like a noob but we all have those days I guess, lol
