I think it would be good to have an American transport other than the C-47.

And for the record, I don't think the C-46 fat.  And for all people say about them being targets, the fact that some are still flying as civilian freighters in Canada today has to say something about their ruggedness.

On top of this, I believe the Texas National guard still operates one. We certainly could use this aircraft. I give my support.

but what does that have to do with the simulator? There's nothing you can really do when flying it in the sim, you can escort or destroy, that's about it

Miles magister
Criquet

Jetman
Jeep
Kübelwagen
*any other plane carrying no bombs and no guns*

You just said all these planes are useless and have no value...

Yes, i would be happy to have an AI only version.

I didn't say they were useless, they are fun but nothing you can really fly for an action packed mission

Does one really need an action packed mission? I would like to see more missions that rely on pilot skill rather than blowing the crap out of each other in 25lbers. I often like to play "Where can I land this?"

Here is what I've found:
R-5: Engine Failure? Pull back on the stick and keep the plane level. It'll glide slightly faster than a parachute and break it's gear on impact, but you'll be fine.
J8a: Cannot land in 54km/h with full gusts. The sudden gusts cause the aircraft to climb drastically and when they drop off, the aircraft drops. If you aren't watching, you'll eat pavement.
D.XXI: Wide track landing gear makes it great for off field landings. It also will burst into flames if the wingtip scrapes the ground.
Ju-52: Makes awesome off field landings. I once made a full stop landing on an island shorter than an aircraft carrier in windless conditions...then proceeded to take off in the remaining distance.

i'd love to see this plane in IL-2.
as mentioned, it's not purely about guns 'n bombs, transport/auxiliary aircraft were vital to the war, and if any planes played a vital role during the actual war, they deserve a place in the sim.
heck, we have one or two rare planes in the game that never even flew in reality (Lerche, anybody?), so i would say BIG YES to the commando, and not simply because i'm not wearing any underwear at the moment, lol....:D

here... you forgot these this morning.
*tends meds to malone*

as an aside
Tiger Moths make good starting points for youngsters to try flight simming.

Acommando AI plane would be much appreciated, and used, because the Japs and the Russkis share the Dakota as a common transport... not really a good situation.

Yes- I rarely contribute to request threads, on the basis that I imagine the 'few' that are doing all the modding here have got a very full job sheet, but on this occasion I would like to make an exception and say +1 for the Commando. I really like the look of her- big powerful engines with 4 bladed props (well, some of them)- I reckon she would be a lot of fun!

Anyways, all of there pictures are either recents of they are wrecks:

(You get a cookie if you remember what TV show that C-46's twin brother was in ;) )

And last but not least:
