Jeez Monty, don't get mistaken, I am not a campaign maker, I don't even know how to operate the FMB, my only intention is to adapt your campaign to my 4.09 game version, and be able to play the part of the opponent, that is fly on the blue side...

I don't have Zuti's mod, nor Epervier's vehicules or animals, and I am sure I lack a lot of static objects and/or mods, such as Arty barrage for ex not to say a word about non stock ships etc...

And at first I only intented to do that for my personal use, I 'll share it and give the link by PM to those who might be interested, but I am in no way going to make the counterpart of your talented work, simply because I don't have your skills, neither your talent and historical knowledge...  ;)

Fair enough mate, I do want to look at the Fleigerkorps Afrika though.  Rommel's forces fought a tough and daring campaign against insuperable odds and supply problems.  They had some really great aircraft too.

To write the campaign from the other perspective is an interesting notion and let's face it, it is already more than half done.  Particularly as the period covered in this campaign begins with the Afrikakorps drive east and subsequent withdrawal west across the Western Desert and ends with their evacuation from Tunisia.

I think you have just given me my next project!

... that's a hell of good news Monty ...!!

I'll tell you how I modify missions : I just fiddle with the .mis files mate, can you imagine ...!! Trial and error most of the time, except to change time, clouds, squads, planes, skins and weapons, skills and some objects, so you will for sure release the DAK version way before I have tweaked half a dozen .mis files ... :D

Thank you so much for all your time and efforts Monty, you are making my leisure time more enjoyable. :)

Et si en plus tu fais des version FR... j'érigerais une statue en ton honneur ! ;)

... tu en seras le tout premier destinataire Epervier ... mais patience car il y a 55 missions à désenvouter et je n'ai qu'un seul grigri ... :D

... and you will be the first recipient Epervier ... but be patient because there are 55 missions to unbewitch and I only have a single lucky charm ...  :P

If you guys need an hand to translate text in French, I volunteer to assist you.

Monty,

nothing major but there is a little issue with the optional Stationary.ini and Technics.ini you provided in the DBW1.7_DAF_Pt01 pack,  as they are calling for a CantZ506B, which is a separate addon not in your list nor, afaik, used in the campaign.

The small forgetting leads to a 70% crash if the user don't have this plane installed, but a quick peek at the logfile.txt identified the issue and Fileseek told me where were this beautiful bird mentioned, so there's nothing one cannot fix by himself, either by deleting the lines or by downloading the Cant Z.506B.

Edit:  ;D You seems to have released a new version of the DBW1.7_DAF_Pt01 undercover, with a new Stationary.ini in it. The Technics.ini still refer to the CantZ506B though.

Cheers

Thanks Fdokal,

I can't sneak anything past you guys!  Actually 78thFG_WindWpn pointed that out really early on so I thought I might get away with it.  Instead I will do a very small Download -Part 04 which will be a patch to overwrite this issue and any others we spot.  Like you say its not a deal breaker at this stage, and now its on the thread that helps everyone anyway.

78thFG_WindWpn has also put together a JSGME pack which repacks all the mods for a simple JSGME one-click install.  Thanks to all the modders who co-operated with this great idea, we will put that little gem up on the first page too, very shortly.

I am also very thankful to CWMV who also worked on consolidating the mods and making the whole thing a bit easier for everyone.

However, I still maintain that Epervier's and CY6's install instructions are really crystal clear and easy to follow.  The basis of my approach was, "shit, if I can do it, anyone can!"

70% CTD with provided inis on clean DBW 1.71. :-\

...maybe a solution would be to set the required ini files up in a jsgme folder (#DAF_Addon). player downloads and drops the required mods into the folder ...\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 DBW\jsgmemods\#DAF_Addon\#DBW and activates it when needed.

Great minds think alike!  I didn't think of that at all but 78thFG_WindWpn has done it for us.

The link is near the bottom of the first page.

Well monty, I'm afraid I lied in PM to you.
I finished adding all the ini's last night, and after the arduous task I was able to fire up the first mission without issue!
Sadly it ended with me in a fireball in the middle of a german fuel convoy...don't like these "can openers"  8)

But the detail is astounding. I cant imagine the work you put into the airbases and the intro video was something else! Haven't ever seen it done that way, and its wonderful.

Kudo's to you sir! here's to more aircraft and bigger battles in your campaigns to come!

Ironically, and largely thanks to you, me and 78thFG_WindWpn, we now have an EASY way to add everything in one go.  For me that has been the greatest achievement here, I hope people like this scenery and all things racing around on it, the airbases and various defensive 'boxes' are all represented.

Air cover is often provided at the early stages, to give you a chance to strafe stuff and concentrate on flying smooth and staying out of the scenery.  The missions are all do-able but will bite you really quick, ground fire, spinning the heavy Hurris low down, lose it for a second and whammo!

As you get used to it though, the pressure builds with each mission, air cover becomes busy elswhere, enemy numbers increase in the air and on the ground so that you end up hitting ground targets before dogfighting with the heavy Hurris, not ideal.  Later in the P40, you know damn well the Bf109 is a superior steed.  Even with Spits in the closing stages the enemy have FW190s!  Or how about flying a Stinson alone through a pack of Italian fighters who are targetted on you and set to 'Veteran' level?  Done it, you will too!
