I think I will have to donate SAS a little something..after all my screen floods and FM criticisms.
After all SAS is the site where I spent 80% of my IL-2 time and where I posted hundreds of entries (and of course Histomod).


Avala: Did you see this funny vid by cyberolas?
(..cyberolas made a first class Crimea repaint BTW..)



I just finished the Benghalli map test for Histomod.

I think that you are having there the old version too. Better shallows now, and more tiny island.


I think that it is working in DBW, since DBW uses jsgme, if I'm not mistaken. (I'm on HSFX currently)

About the woods in the water . . . that's because I made tiny island on map C with brush in photoshop. Not by hand, so they are random, made by the game itself  ;D

The result is very tiny islands with interesting shapes, and much smaller then it would be with the hand, also even smaller that 1 pixel. The also have very natural looking shallows that gradually goes into the deep. Side effects is that is very hard to place textures on them on the map T, I can do that only approximately, and if you make mistake of 1 pixel on map T its 200 meters in the game (and that is happening). Solution could be not to put woods at all, but its more colorful this way, I just see it as some Mangrove trees, or kelps, or something like that . . .

Remember that date, time and weather settings affect much how the map would look. Also the individual graphic settings. I'm using Carsmaster's light and his water (with my wave texture), so it looks great for me.

I did exactly the same thing and both versions work fine in my DBW 1.71 install (+ UP3RC4).
It sounds like you still use the old Benghalli folder in _Tex/Avala/   
Maybe you put the new version somewhere else in the _Tex folder structure?  ;)
