Zuti's Actor's Management tool problem
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:08:46 PM »

I am having my first go at creating an auto pop template using the AP_Template map. However i have run into a problem when extracting the actors.static file.

I created a MapSize.txt with the following entry

"#  Size of map in y direction in
meters
2560.0"

without quotes, however when i extract the actors.static i get the following message in the actors management GUI

Actors Static Lite v0.93 by MicroWave, update by ZUTI - [Extraction mode]
Reading*.static file
New folder created; C:\Users\Office\Desktop\Map building tools and readmes\Zutis actors\Z_ActorsManagement\MW_Statics\Extracted
Reading bridges
Error: For input string: "meters"
Done

I can not figure out why i get an error message for meters entry. My information for the AP_Template map, taken from ifranview is

128 x 128 x 8 (pixels)

@ 200m per pixel this is
equivalent to>

25.6 x 25.6 km

128 x 200 = 25600
128 x 200 = 25600

Mapsize.txt will be 2560.0

enter 2560.0 in the Mapsize.txt

I get a folder called Extracted, but all the files have 0 kb size, any help greatly appreciated

regards

I'm guessing here, but perhaps due to your spelling - "meters" - try "metres" instead.

I've had exactly the same problem like you have.
Long story short it turned out to be I missed a text.file called "inBridgesReal" in  MW_Statics/Base_Files/
Probably I must have deleted it some time.
Since I had this file back again (I don't know what this file does or anything) extracting works without any problem.
So you need to check if you have this file, if not I can upload mine.

Oops! i did  spell it wrong didn't i  :-[ Unfortunately this still does not solve the problem. Could you please upload the "inBridgesReal" file you talked about Uufflakke, i to do not have one of these, hopefully that is the problem.

thanks both for your help

p.s i just checked the tutorial i was following by Easyrider that came with Zutis management tool, and it does mention "meters" not "metres". Could you please confirm what spelling you have? although neither seem to work for me.

cheers

Spelling is "meters".

"inBridgesReal" ready for d/l here:

Hopefully it helps.
(At least it did in my case.)

If the map is 25.6km x 25.6km wouldn't the y direction in metres be 25600? ie 25.6 x 1000

@Goanna: with 128 pixels a mapsize.txt of 2560.0 is good.
Doesn't sound logical I know but that's the way it is described in the tutorial and it works when trying to extract the actors.static.

Found the problem.

In the tutorial it had

"#  Size of map in y direction in
meters
2560.0"

when it should all have been on two lines, as

"#  Size of map in y direction in meters
2560.0"

thanks all for your help, let you know how i get on

cheers

Good stuff to know, even if it isn't logical  ;D
