Beautiful work, LiddleMaus! Regarding the landing gear, if you can find a way to model the oleo struts then go for it. Personally, I would love to see this kind of detail, even if it means we have to wait longer to fly this beauty.

I couldn't agree more. It's the little things of detail in this game that keep it so great!! Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Hi all,

Almost done with landing gear -- just need's some polishing. I've widened the front end of the Hawk III's nose to reflect the beefed-up motor on the bird. Otherwise, all that's left is the props and gun-sights and I'll be done with modeling the exterior. Then, on to organizing parts and texture-mapping.  8)

With the oleo struts, I've come to agree with a few people on this board that oleo's should be last priority. There's gonna be a lot of work ahead anyways. But I'll leave options open. So for BETA, the oleo will be fixed (not meaning landing gear....totally different parts). That way everyone will be flying this bird A.S.A.P.

;D Final word this week, have a great rest-of-the-weekend. Peace out!

It's looking really nice for your first 3D model!

It's funny you say so. My roommate said the same thing about the dolphin shape.  :P

Update:

[Curtis FB2C-1 "Goshawk"]

[Curtis Model 68C Hawk III]

I can't say that I'm done 'cause I still got a long way to go. But at least, all major exterior 3d work is at a completion. Now the part I'm know I'm going to dread -- naming convention and optimizing poly-count for IL-2. Afterwards...texturing. :o Oh well, enjoy the pics.
