JapanCat's A6M3-22 Kai with 30mm Type-2 cannons for DBW 1.71





Many of you might have noticed that JapanCat's A6M3-22 Kai is missing from DBW 1.71, even though it is included in UP3. This omission is unfortunate.

The A6M3-22 Kai was unique due to the fact that it was equiped with powerful 30mm Type-2 Cannons.
The Type-2 30mm's are ideal for turning bombers into mid-air debris. They are also amazingly effective against fighters.


Luckily there is an easy way to restore the hidden A6M3-22 Kai to DBW1.71... 


First download JapanCat's Arms here and drop it into your #DBW mods folder (This is optional, but recommended. Although you will be able to fly the aircraft without installing JC's arms, some of the Type-2 30mm hit effects will be missing, installing JC's arms restores them):

Make a backup of your current "air.ini", "plane_ru.properties" and "weapons_ru.properties" files. Then add the following lines...
 

1. Add to "air.ini":

A6M-22Kai            air.A6M_22Kai 2                              ja01  DESERT


2. If you don't already have an entry in "plane_ru.properties" for the A6M-22Kai, then add this line to "plane_ru.properties":

A6M-22Kai            A6M3-22 Kai, 1943


3. Add to "weapons_ru.properties":

I am confused... wouldn't the "arms" folder already be included in DBW?   I guess you probably tried to just add the lines and wasn't enough?

Yes, it will work without adding the arms, but I found that some of the 30mm hit effects are missing if I just add the lines without installing the arms. Other than that, just adding the lines will work fine.

Some effects packages also alter the Type-2 30mm effects... installing the arms restores them. It's a matter of preference I guess.
