Hey There, Here is a Sas ModAct version. I included the little bug fix from the DBW version.
The wood loads up no problem and RA_imphal_airfield.tga is not a problem.
I've left in The Slot wood textures incase you want to change around.

You will need the sfs objects pack created by UP_boomer if this is a virgin install.

Allied Airfield Outer Island Bug Fix DBW/UP3

https://www.mediafire.com/?y8u0dbrw20z444r

So Sorry SAS peoples , I missed a re levelling and a clearing of some jungle.
B-24's will now just make a take off after going some metres off the runway. Twin engined bombers suit it moreso.
Also cleared some hills and jungle down at the Pontianak occupied IJN base so the 4 engined IJN flying boats can take off.
small sea planes at the moment no problems

Sorry about that I lost my head

The Japanese Occupation of Borneo

Once the Japanese had conquered all of the island of Borneo it was administered very differently as compared to the Western methods of administration.
The Dutch territory was governed by the Imperial Japanese Navy
Sarawak and British North Borneo was governed by the Imperial Japanese Army

The two governing bodies the IJA and IJN completely changed the Borneo map to suit the Japanese. The Japanese re named everything in Borneo including Labuan Island.

I am still seeking the Japanese name of Tarakan Island. If anyone knows please advice

The Map

New items to the map have been added such as three extra airfields which were built by the Japanese and POW's
POW/ Internment camps stationed at Sandakan and Labuan Island.
Labuan Island was a major stronghold base and this has been replicated.
Tarakan Island was also a major stronghold base and this has been replicated.
Other established towns important to the Japanese has been built up signaling thier occupation and further fortified.
The main POW/Internment camp at Kuching was a massive complex with 8 miles of barbed wire around it.
The two Dutch secret airfields were not officially used by the Japanese but each had a garrison to guard them.

The Load.ini

From Dak Pilots wood suggestion the only thing that has been changed to the map is the wood as seen below as an example.
The woods are in game textures and I had no problems loading up this load.ini

[WOOD]
Wood0 = forest/summer/Jungle0.tga
Wood1 = forest/summer/sk_Wood1.tga
Wood2 = forest/summer/sk_Wood2.tga
Wood3 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood4.tga
Wood4 = Italy_DF/forest/summer/itawood4.tga

WoodMask2  = forest/summer/JForestMask.tga
WoodMask3  = forest/summer/JForestMask2.tga
WoodMiniMasks = forest/summer/MiniMask.tga
SideWood = forest/summer/ForestSide.tga

For the DBW/UP3 version I have included the Tree folder and land/pacific/BorneoNorth folder

Hi Thanks Bombs,

Just letting you and others know you will get some low frame rates flying over the huge Internment/POW camp near Kuching.
I used a number of TOW objects including the 8 miles of barbed wire.

Cheers

Thanks for this, lovely detail and atmosphere, not sure I should say an interment camp looks great  ;) but detail is really good, the FPS drop is only over a very small area at certain views, so no biggie.

I cannot take credit for the wood I merely copy pasted from another map ( I think a mod map by Avala..sorry if that is wrong) to test and thought it looked good

I also notice that since the Japanese occupation a small amount of tree cutting took place around the airfield at Brunei  :) this fixes up a small bug from the pre 42 map that has AI aircraft hitting the treeline on final landing approach, anything larger than very light singles will crash on landing under AI control, this may be a problem for campaign builders in the 42 map

You can see a lot of hard work went into this, QMB's for pre42 map obviously work on this with a very little editting to the names and .mis files

Cheers Dakpilot

@Pete ... Where did you find the Japanese skin for the 217? If you made it, will you share it? :)

Still seeking some info on Japanese air units info for Borneo

I know there were some recon units on Labuan Island flying Ki-49's

Can be difficult to find

There is alot more info on the Allied landings.

The Allies practically levelled Labuan island including the Japanese built airstrip which they did not want. However the Allies gave priority to the main airstrip near Victoria Town.

Another thing with this map is I changed the outer island airfield as a twin airfield Allied base to represent Morotai.

Bombers flew from Morotai to bomb Tarakan Island, Brunei or Labuan Island then flew down to Kuching across Borneo and back to Morotai.

I'll upload a link to a good book called 'The Occupation of Borneo'

The airstrips between Miri and Kuching were only used by the Japanese as emergency strips so they were left as is.

Don't worry Dakpilot your idea for the map  ;)

These raised objects might look really nice on the jetties.
