Hi Monty,
I have the same problem that Cringer had with the missing files in the NN folder (Awards, Ranks, etc.) I got around it temporarily by pasting the files from the US folder but obviously the ranks don't agree with the Flying Tigers which as I recall were "Wingman....."
I've got the US military ranks in NN now as a result of the workaround.
Can anyone post the correct files?
Thanks,
Smilinjack
Update: I located the NN files in the Flying Tigers 01 archive (the old "non-special" edition).
Thanks anyway.

Hi Monty
My campaign still doesnt work.
I think it has some to do with the ranks and awards as shown above.
Ill copy them from US folder and see if it works.
All the Best

Hi Gerson

If it helps, I repacked the download with all my other NN files too, awards, ranks etc.  I think you are right that their absence could break a campaign, never thought anyone else might lack them!  Anyway, you can have mine, let me know if it flys now.

Simon I had the same problem with the new AVG .I had a copy of the old campaign on my storage drive. I always back up all my working versions of this game On a 2tb storage drive. I found that when working with mods some time things get lost or put in the wrong place. What I did was comment out the new NN folder that came with the special edition and copied the old NN from my AVG campagian and bingo the campaign started right up  :) I am on my 20th mission now and have only died three times  :D

Well thank you Gerson, good info for future uploads.  You are now flying a highly polished campaign on a super-modded install!  Therefore I would still be interested to hear of any issues, so we can iron them out as we strive for perfection!  ;D

You know, I hadn't even considered the disparities between US and UK English and as an internationalist I wholeheartedly support the use of the more common vernacular which is American English.
Why do yanks think they invented everything? They even mess with English and call it the best...
International English is true English not the bastardised  version Americans have created....

Absolutely love this campaign  & all the obvious work that has gone into it.I do have one very small ,tiny glitch I'd like to ask about: apparently for lack of a better word-Dutch-Burmese Palm Blight

A couple of months ago I redid some trees and also repainted and edited the alpha layer of the bougainvillea tree.
I made them less bright pink coloured.  ;)

wow....they look great mate....much nicer than my originals..
Here in Thailand and Burma the Bougainvillea really catch the eye for about five months of the year during the cold season. White, pink, pale yellow, orange, mauve...but my favourite are the really strong deep purple, which is what I modelled. A great contrast against the green to brown landscape...as are the yellow trees and red Flame of the Forest.
download link not working BTW

A nice campaign...good to see my map doing what it was made for.
I did really enjoy the very first AVG campaign made for il2...cannot remember who did it now...I'm getting old....was it Chuck Older?
One thing I find rather annoying is that mission-builders spend ages making really nice landscapes full of all the great objects we have.....and then don't put in any static cameras so we can enjoy them!!!
I always like to put in several views.....at the target areas for bombers....over the airfield...etc. when i build my missions. Gives me something nice to look at after being shot down....lol....and I can watch the action instead of leaving the mission early.

After flying the first ten missions.....IMHO the Japanese are set to too high a skill rating. As we know the AI have always had advantages over us poor humans anyway.
I know some Japanese pilots had experience from their early time in China but not really against any enemy pilots...just bombing and straffing.
The big bombers never went into glide-bombing mode as we see them doing at Mingladon airfield.
Because there are no static cameras the running men are wasted....
AA fire seems very light.
Reading accounts, although the AVG were outnumbered they rarely seemed to be outskilled.

My Japanese fighters have no sound??

Hi fabianfred,

great to hear your comments, there are a few issues with a campaign and mod setup of this complexity.  Glad its working for you, let me answer a few points:

AI-Thanks to CY6's Command and Control Mod the AI is actually randomised each time and you will face some highly skilled AI pilots.  The feedback from more hardcore sim-pilots, like CWMV, WWHappy, RDDR and my own experience, is that they are tough enough to provide a more 'realistic feel'.  Video game turkey shoots don't occur, and often knowing when to break off an encounter and run is just as important.  Nevertheless, many players reported kill tally's exceeding 30 over the 55 missions, which is pretty good going.

SOUND-Flying on full-real or restricted cameras views the sounds always work, but I agree, it is nice to look around.  In the case of sound drop-outs, usually caused when switching through camera modes, just switch back to an F3 view and then F11/F12 again, the occasional missing sound will come back.

Light AA Fire?-Have to look at specific missions there.  Box barrages are used to intensify AA over Kunming and Singapore, along with CY6's Superflak and other AAA.  Really this is another question of balance, and for the purposes of the campaign we don't want the AI bombers getting shot down by AAA, that's a job for the human player/Pilots!

MAP & Cameras-Beautiful maps and great scenery action, I have been a fan of your map work for a long time.  Point taken, I will drop in some some high and low altitude cameras across all the missions and update the mission set.  Will advise when this is done.

Did you also enjoy the beacon feature?
