I have never been a fan of static campaigns, I have always liked DCG more than anything....but this looks awesome.

I am going to have to DL and try this one. Thanks for the work!

A few more screen shots. I tried to save the C-47 in the screen shot,But to late his left engine caught fire. I did knock down the guy that got him but it was three to 1 right over our base.

At least you weren't in it at the time!  Lovely shots, we can see that you are Boom n Zoom, using the vertical.  The Hawk does have the power and speed but turns like a pig.  Just looking at it makes the heart beat faster, its a gorgeous campaign to look at.

As was the historical case you are ALWAYS outnumbered by at least 2:1 and usually much more.  To make it playable but not impossible is such a difficult balance to strike, so I didn't.  Instead EVERY mission features a Random AI skill setting, one of CY6's latest mods.  Veterans are most common, Ace and Rookie less so.  Other CY6 mods for bomber behaviour and AI Vectoring give these missions a real edge regarding the AI and an unpredictable feel.

Simon I try to fly historical, and read the briefing before I fly the mission. Yes the P.40 was not a dogfighter but could hold its own with a altitude advantage. I will take on Zeros with a head on pass but always dive away then climb and try to get back my altitude. Not doing to bad so far got the AVG pilots Badge today.

I hope youll consider this as an option for later campaigns/revisions.
Some of us appreciate this level of historically accurate detail...even if it seems sadistic at times!

Oh yes, you're dead right, this what all the campaigns need in the upgrade, random AI Skill also provides better replay value.

Another thing that makes a big improvement is CY6s DZ object, which removes flights once they are a suitable distance out of the way.  This means that CPU resources are not wasted plotting bomber formations or other flights that are no longer within range of the player.  Used with careful timing you can produce many enemy flights to direct against the player, without over-working the game engine.

This is the kind of overhaul that the BoB missions are getting at the moment, plus A&A Paintworks are doing a lot of specific skins.

Monty ...I have no idea what I've done incorrectly , but something obviously.Playing a DBW,complete with add-ons install with DCG operating .Have downloaded all 4 parts & combined all their parts into one folder containing missions, paintschemes & samples & transfered those into my main gmae folder( with exception of samples which I didn't use...) They properly installed in their correct positions ,campaigns & singles folder(s) NN & of course skins.Playing the cgame I go to None (NN) to start a career or to singles to play a mission - in career campaign I get a faulty track intro & clicking to start campaign I get an earth sky svcreen & that's it .In Single mission I get a blank menu screen for mission & mission won't start at all. Any ideas? Map missing?
I might add I am a beginner to using DCG in any real meaningful way so perhaps I haven't used this when I ned to in your big campaign...
Thanks for your efforts! :-\

dietz ...This isn't DCG, its a scripted campaign played in the 'standard' manner.  I suspect DCG has re-arranged something, can you get to it with DCG not operating?

Hi Simon,
This looked great and I couldn't wait to play but, no go for me.  It's not your fault or Wind's fault but a limit of my own system, I believe.  Here is the problem:

JSGME Mod's activated:
#DBW_6dofTrackIR_ClassFiles
#DBW_MOD_ETC
#DBW_MOD_Pilots
#DBW_MOD_Effects
#DBW_MOD_Aircraft
#DBW_MOD_Static

Operating System: 32 bit Vista with 4 GB installed but I hear the 32 bit systems only see a maximum of 3 GB.

Results:
When I start with the IL2 Selector RAM set at 256MB, the DBW screen loads fine but I get a CTD just when the IL2 Sturmovik game load screen begins.

If I increase the IL2 Selector RAM to 512 MB or greater, the game loads just fine.  However, when I select (Single Mission for testing) "TIGER-01" the briefing screen is fine but after selecting "Fly", the mission loads up to 85% (Loading Stationary Objects) and then fails with this message: "Mission loading failed: Mesh3do/humans/Paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created"

To me, this all indicates that I do not have enough RAM to load the MODS and the Mission.  I haven't seen anyone else with this problem so I must be the lone 32 bit OS dinosaur, at least so far, to try the new all-in-one #DBW_MOD_Static compilation with the Flying Tigers.

If you or anyone has another idea, please let me know.  If I am right, I may need to maintain 2 seperate #DBW_MOD_Static compilations, or completely upgrade to 64 bit Win 7.  :'(

Dennis you are no dino!

My flying machine runs XP off an AMD Socket-A mobo with an ATI Rage and just 2Gb of RAM!  I have to defrag it regularly and keep it tidy, use a lot of portable drives with plenty of space.  But it runs so smoothly, +60fps on perfect settings.

I mention this because it may be worth looking at your install and testing a Vanilla setup to properly benchmark what it will do.

The paratrooper error is also linked to tex compression which is set in the conf.ini

Storebor explained it yonks ago:

Edit your conf.ini file (you can find it in your IL-2 game folder).
Scroll down to section [Render_OpenGL] and set the following two parameters as follows (the parameters are already in that section, just change them to these values):
TexCompress=2
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1

Have you checked this?

Thank you Simon!  I checked my Conf.ini file and both flags were set to "0".  I changed them per the instructions and everything loads and runs just fine.  Now, I can start playing that Flying Tigers campaign  :)

Thank you buddy, I really appreciate the help.

One more question...  In the first mission I see some lavender bushes/trees.  Did I screw something up during the install?  I looked in the FMB and they are object 526 I believe...  I don't remember that color tree from past mission builds but I could be wrong.  I wonder if I somehow damaged my Objects file????
