Hey Simon if you would like to see a cool Track of Mission 25 Scramble< Scramble enemy bombers inbound. Betty's,Ki27s and some help from the RAF.One of my Best.
http://www.wingwalkers.org/vault/happy/quick0000.rar Make sure you have manual views set there's a lot of action to look at. If I knew how to make movies i would make one out of this one.

Make sure you check twice or maybe three times before you hit the delete key I was cleaning up some old campaigns on my game and inadvertently deleted my 32 missions on my AVG campaign :-[ Man I am bummed out, starting over today. I changed over to flight leader so i can give more commands to my group. Lot of time down the drain but still having fun. thanks for a great campaign Simon.

Thanks mojojojoj!

Sympathy Tom! - I built up a lovely sequence of completed campaigns having done all of Poltava's wonderful Spanish Civil War missions and then getting 75% through the Battle of Britain.  Testing DAF and re-arranging folders saw it all wiped out with even less effort!

A mod that allows us to sort out campaigns on screen without deleting them would seem to be a great idea.  Being able to re-arrange them into chronological order on the campaign-in-progress screen would be nice too.

Monty

Again you have surpassed yourself. I am impressed that your work is getting better and better with each released campaign. The sky is the limit for creativity and your work seems to perfectly mesh with that of the SAS team. I only play your campaigns now and I suspect there are lots of others doing likewise.

I was initially stumped by the P40 in the DAF, don't really understand why but I just couldn't fly the thing, would rather have had a Fairey Battle than the Hawk, but after a complete revision of input settings and a switch to TFT, I have grown to love this airplane and will be even investing in the A2A Accu-Sim P40 for FSX. That is purely about the flying experience and the workload is that of a toggle and switch jockey but very satisfying nevertheless.

If it is of any help I would point out where I think your work has great strength:-

period music for the menus and more importantly great sound tracks to accompany the flying time before and after action
use of superb JSGME packs for the extra stuff required which results in less headache for the user
good historical narrative to get the flyer's head into the scene together with beautiful and excellent briefing documentation
superb skins, thanks to those fantastic modders at Axis & Allies Paintworks

In my opinion these campaigns of yours represent the pinnacle of quality that is available within the offline IL2 world. If I may be so bold as to offer a criticism not for its own sake but in the interests of continuous improvement, it would be that I come across careless grammar/spelling within the briefings themselves and sometimes in the documentation. You have put so much effort into these that they are only slightly spoiled by imperfections in the English. I apologise for this remark, and yes I am being retentive and used to be an English Language Teacher. With other works I let it slip as I enjoy the flying and it's someone's creativity offered gratis which I respect but I feel that you want to be as best as you possibly can - I pick that up from this forum. If you ever feel like passing prose over to me for a once over before release I would be honoured to provide that service for the pleasure that your work affords to me.

Again, well done and keep it up. You have set the bar high and I don't limbo dance.

Euan,

thanks for a great appraisal.  This campaign is pretty much up-to-date with the current features, however, a closer working relationship with Axis and Allies has opened the possibility of a further update, with some more paintschemes.  It would be nice to review your thoughts on the writing and include an upgrade there too, for the final release.

Grammar slips are the most niggly irritating thing but can happen because the process of building a campaign like this involves handling so many layers at once.  It never hurts to get another pair of hands, or eyes, on the thing.

Regarding spelling, lets not forget that this was deliberately written in American English, rather than UK English, because I thought that would be more appropriate for the subject.

However, I would very much appreciate the chance to benefit from your experience as an English teacher.  If it is not too much trouble, could you please email me the points you have considered in the documentation and briefing notes.  If you stick it all in a word doc I can go over it in detail.  Lets really aim for the gold standard!

Simon

Yes of course I will do as you request and it will be my pleasure to help in any way. You know, I hadn't even considered the disparities between US and UK English and as an internationalist I wholeheartedly support the use of the more common vernacular which is American English. Despite the accents the planes originally used by the Tigers even had the RAF roundel as they were destined for the UK before being seqestered by Chennault. I love the voice pack used to reflect the nationality of the pilots.

I am so looking forward to your upgrade of the SOM and BOB. The skins upgrade that you point to really wets the appetite. Have you looked at the possiblity of voice pack integration for your BOB with the Compans works, as in the Biggin Hill Wing? You seem to have the knack of getting people to work with you and that is a great skill. The RAF voice packs that Compans used/created are simply superb and really make his campaign in my view.

Within the next few days I shall email you a document with suggested amendments to your campaign headers and briefing screens. Use as you see fit.
