About the Java limit, I haven't reached it yet apparently. My machine is working fine with all the new aircraft installed in my "SCW DBW" with its custom air.ini and reduced skin folders. Worried about it, though, counted 66 mods in my DBW folder, not taking into account maps, most of them, aircraft. There were more than 200 different aircraft in SCW, so if DreamK goes on with this amazing work...
About the Balearic campaign, David, there's not much English info, AFAIK. You can have a look to Wikipedia too, he, he:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Majorca
Almost nothing about planes, though.
Potez 54 were used in several occasions. For instance, they bombed the port of Palma de Majorca on october 18th 1936, and again on november 18th, but this Island had been abandoned already by Republicans on September 4th 1936. The first SM81 (in the Balearic Islands) participated in this battle, bombing the small islands of Cabrera and Formentera on september the 6th and forcing the Republican retreat.
BTW, a curious detail that you could add to your campaign is that one of the Republican S-62 was damaged and landed on the sea, the crew was rescued by a Republican submarine, there were several operating in the area.
SM79 didn't arrived until next year, when bombing of the cities in the mainland coast started. So these events are quite separated in time and aren't part of the same battle. The Republican continued bombing the islands from time to time, not only with Po-54, but much more often with SB-2 along 1937 and 38. For instance, they hit the German cruiser Deutschland at Ibiza, on may 28th 1937, provocking in reprisal the bombardment of the indefence city of Almeria in reprisal, by German fleet.

[DJP]  My DBW is a bit like that. No postwar jets, and many other planes with a // in front of them. I've got an outline of the main events. The case of that S62 sounds interesting. Looks like I'll have to include a submarine hunt. The info about the SM81 is useful. Looks like I don't have to wait for the Potez 540 then. The campaign only goes from Aug to Sep when the Republicans were defeated. Hitler wanted to declare war on the Republic when the Deutschland was bombed. He was dissuaded from that. The Republicans had a Coast Defence ship in this campaign didn't they? The Ward, and Aurora will be there. They make excellent generic pre WWII ships for any navy. So will the Italian frigates from the Escort pack. As for the Spanish countryside. Do the farmers live in villages and go out into the fields to work. Or do they live in detached houses on their farms? There are plenty of 'Spanish/Mediterranean' buildings in FMB.

cheers

David

Hello all, While testing some new skins on the superb Agracier Balearics map I'd noticed the absence of the seaplane base at Pollenca and decided to add it to the map, couldn't seem to find it in the DBW sfs files so I downloaded V1.1 which Agracier left a link to in the forum.

Some images of the changes taking shape.

A number of attempts were made to position the take off and landing slots and this is the best for all three types shown.
The He-60 had a nasty habit of trying to fly through hills, although the CantZ-506 and 501 got in and out wherever I put things.

The He-60 doesn't like AI take off either, it will only get airborne if it hits a piece of land. ???

An attempt to replicate a particularily well published photograph.

Near enough me thinks, still need to add the port beyond. ;)

While I was at it I also altered the seaplane taxi ways and stays at Palma.

This brought the takeoff point nearer to the shore, unfortunately not able to do this at Pollenca due to the hills.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello Agracier, glad you like the changes. 8)  I'll send you a link once I've finished things, or you can have it now if you like and you can detail the port at Pollenca, you're so much better at that than I am. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I'll be off on the road in 2 days from now and then it will be another 2 or 3 weeks without much Internet or computers ... so there is no real hurry. And then I'll be back in Internetland in the beginning of July or so but also have work to finish which can't be put off much longer ... things pile up.

So I'd say do what you wish and pretend I've been interned somewhere ... ha ha

A really great job, MB. This floatplanes base was greatly needed. Now, a lot of missions can be implemented much more reallisticaly. To use the pictures is the best way, especially when you have a good reallistic map as Agracier's. What about those He-60 skins? I think I missed those.
David, about your question on farming in Spain, it varies depending on territories: in most of Spain, people live in concentrated villages, but in Balearic Islands, Valencia, Maestrazgo and Catalonia, they can also live in detached farms called masias or mases, depending on the zone. There are many of those detached farms in Northern Spain also.
In most areas were people live in small villages, there are farming buildings scattered in the countryside, anyway. For instance, in Aragon, is very typical a building to keep sheeps and goats along nights and winter called paridera. There are hundreds of them in a single Comarca.

Hello Poltava, glad you like the changes, so give scope for a few missions eh. 8)

Hello Juanmalapunte, the He-60 is a skin I did as a request by Realdarko, it has not been released yet as such although maybe RealDarko may have passed on the link to a few. ;)
The intention is to do a pack of them, RealDarko has very kindly sent me enough information to keep me busy for a while.  Once I finish updating Polenca that is. :)

A few images of what has been done so far of Pollenca port and seaplane base using what material I can find.

I've more or less done as much as I intended here but I will make seaplane landing slots at Ibiza and Menorca also, just for completness.

If there is anything else that folks out there really think needs doing to the map then you better say so quick.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

You're doing an incredible work. It's a great idea to add the slots in the other Islands. Menorca was used by Republican S-62 and Dornier Wal as base. Don't forget the little detail to rename the duplicated Southernmost Alcudia to Can Picafort. Keep up the great work. :)

Hi, Mission_bug. In preparation for my Balaerics campaigns, I made some changes to the map.
I looked at a pic of Mahon from Google Earth. Got the shape of the port and town, then added it. There was nothing before. I didn't add the near by fortifications. I added a seaplane base at Pollenca. There was none on my map. Yours is better though. Is there another map available for d/l somewhere? I only have the stock one in DBW 1.71.
Also Alcuida airfield appears twice. Some of the towns have no buildings. I added some to Alcuida. The one near Pollenca. If you want the .mis file, PM me, and I'll email it. Your work will most probably be far better than mine. In fact, I'd bet the farm on it. Will you eliminate the other Alcuida?

cheers

David
