I understand in theory what you just wrote... but in practice I have no idea how to start building this mod.
So, as I see it, I could grab a fuel truck, make a copy/clone of it so I still have the working original, make this new clone invisible by editing its part as Hidden. And now I have an invisible vehicle for wingmen to target.
A bunch of questions about it:
1. Can I make it indestructible?
2. If I leave it destructible, will it explode and the explosion be visible?
3. Will it show up in the map as an icon?
4. How do I build this mod, technically, step-by-step?
5. Will it be affected by Command and Control random objects mod?
The more I think about it the more I love the idea: Imagine having one invisible indestructible fuel truck and one that is destructible. You could put in one place the indestructible and around it a few of the exploding ones. You send in your wingmen and you yourself attack the area by strafing/bombs/rockets and get some nice explosions to represent you hitting troops or hidden weapons caches, fuel depot, ect... and by using the C&C mod you can randomize the apperance of the exploding invisible trucks... so your wingmen will go ahead and attack the indestructible invisible target, but if the exploding ones don't show up in that specific instance of the mission, you don't get any sign of actually having hit something... for the player flying it looks like the intelligence was wrong and it was just a suspected depot, or the troops moved away, or there was nothing in the target area...
Can someone please help me make this?
