Hi Guys can I use this on my XP Pro 64 Bit.

I've been using it on the same system and it works fine with Il-2 ... no problems at all. In fact, this mod works fine with other older 32 bit programs as well. I've used it on a number of such 32 programs and they also show improvement in memory handling.

Of course, always always make a backup first ...

Just registered and started learning about ways to make IL-2 better, and this was the first thread to catch my eye. What a difference! Great fix.

Hello guys
In UP 2.01 we can activate different executable memory size through JSmge mod activator
Can I activate a executable memory size through JSmge and, at the same time, patch the il2fb.exe with this  program ?
Thanks
Best regards

Very interesting ! I use currently the 6DOF_Tracker_4GBVersion il2fb.exe of the UltraPack on a SAS mod activated game (Win7 x64, 4GB ram) with success. Is this patch better than my current config ? And if so, on which version of the il2fb.exe must it be applied to keep the TrackIr compatibility ?
I'm interested if someone has an idea about that and I will try to make some tests by myself when I have some free time  ;)
Thanks  :)

Does this 4gig patch supersede the older 1gig patch as found here?

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,2475.0.html

Can you use the 4 gig patch to upgrade an already patched 1gig il2.exe or should this be done to the original il2.exe?

I'm always wary of experimenting with these things on my own without some advice from people more in the know ...

Also interested in the above. Which superseeds which? will running this on top of 6DOF_Tracker_4GBVersion il2fb.exe give any benefits?

Hello.  Just wandered in from another thread.

Is this mod still recommended now that we have the  UP3 RAM setting?
Are the two even related?

Thanks.

The original 4Gb tweaker of this thread (in fact an internal flag in any Portable Executable, in any .exe) specifies if when executed memory blocks over 2Gb can be addressed or not by the operatin system. It only is an adnvantage for some applications. It was not determined schientifically if it produces a benefit or not (some people say yes, others can't recognize any difference).

The other JSGME MODdable executable versions are just different il2fb.exe with the -Xmx (heap memory of the java Virtual Machine the game uses) set to 512/1024, etc.

Since previous version made by Kegetys, later SAS~Storebror developed the recent versions of the il2 selector which includes a pratical way of setting not only that, but even other of the Java Virtual Machine starting settings. After him my TotalMODder offers similar chances of adjusting in detail any memory parameter, including a simple slidebar (as Storebror did) to set the Heap Size.

The last explanation referred to Java yes have clear and empirically testable results. It expands the number of classes (planes and other objects) you can use, and practically supress the micro-stutters thagt otherwise used to shortly hang the game when playing.

But there is no fixed rule regarding the heap adjustment, and it produces different results in different systems. So trial and error must be applied to achieve your own optimal settings.

  Regards,
