OK I have HD4870 1GB using ATI pack 8.70 which is a beta 10.2 and I have block text at start up, but goes away after a short time. My CCC settings are at all Maxed out and I have Fusion Desk top utility and AMD overdrive and all at game start are at Real Time in Task Manager. so what Im trying to say is there is something your missing out on. I want to help you find it. Go on your date have a smashing time and then tomorrow lets fix it.

S!

I did drop the Catalyst 9.10 atioglxx.dll to IL-2 folder again. It works with the 10.3a drivers released and gives good performance without artifacts or other things. Will file feedback forms again, but can be that fixing IL-2 takes a bit so 10.4 are earliest drivers to see any change I think.

Hey Bravo, well after somehow getting something rather invasive in my computer (damnable school networks...) I can't get rid of think I'm going to have to just start from scratch and reinstall win7 and just install catalyst 9.10 right off the bat and see if that fixes this issue.  I didn't have any real problems with 9.10 when it was the newest one out, so we'll see from there.  I'll let you know later tonight how it goes, have class in 40 minutes so don't really have time to run the whole reinstallation procedure right now.

S!

Kleinnak. You do not need 9.10's as the sole atioglxx.dll is enough. The new 10.3's are great drivers for other games from what I have tested. I put my settings below that work with my 5870HD, including conf.ini and CCC panel. I hope it helps!

I run my game in OpenGL, Perfect mode, 1920x1200 resolution, 32-bit color depth. I have 4.09m + UltraPack v2.0n with SAS mods installed.

CCC Panel

 Anisotropic Filterin: Application Controlled
Antialiasing: Application Controlled or 4x Edge-Detect, matter of preference. Box 2x is good too.
 Antialiasing mode: Super-Sampling
 Mipmap detail: High Quality
Vertical Sync: On, unless application specifies
 Triple Buffering: On
 Catalyst AI: Off

Good evening, Gentlemen!

I am sorry to disturb you with my rather silly question: can anyone here explain me ( step by step, if at all possible ), how to install the 10.3 ATI drivers on my Windows 7 system? I just installed it, and it just does not want to update from the 8.6 version existing on the system ( this damn 8.6 is the default driver for my video card ), and I seem to not be able to install those drivers on my own. Would you be so kind to shed a tiny ray of light on the subject?

Here are my system specs:
Intel Pentium D 805, 2.66 GHz
ATI Radeon X1600 Pro, 256 MB DDR2
250 GB HDD
4 GB RAM

Thank you again,

George1991

S!

First use for example Control Panel -> Install/Uninstall a Program and choose ATI drivers from it. Uninstall them, restart in Safe Mode (F8 during boot up) and if using a driver cleaner software, clean ATI related stuff from computer. Then shut down, unplug the network cable and restart. Now Win7 won't try to update from internet ;) After this run the ATI setup as Administrator (right click and choose Run as administrator). Then just follow on-screen instructions and reboot after installation is complete. Should work :)

Well, that seems to have done the trick.  Redid windows, installed the 10.3 beta drivers, put the 9.10 atioglxx.dll in the il-2 folder, applied the settings for the conf.ini and ccc you suggested Flanker and running like a champ! no blocky text and game running as smooth as iv'e ever seen it :).  must have been something got screwed up somehow trying to take the drivers back from the newer ones to the older ones, corrupted something along the way is all i can figure :-S Anyway, thanks a lot for all your help guys!  One of the many many many reasons I visit this forum repeatedly throughout the day :).

Still have some flickering/flashing occasionally when aircraft are firing guns. Hopefully 10.4 fixes some IL-2 related stuff...
